An influence is something that has the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself. Throughout life, people are faced with influences, good and bad. Whether it’s the influence someone may have on a person or from a personal experince, they shape a person into whom they are today. Influences can affect someone’s behavior, motivation, health, actions, and the list goes on. Not all influences are bad, some can be very helpful and have major impacts on a person’s life. I try to surround myself with as many positive influences in my life as possible. To do that, I try to surround myself with encouraging friends, safe entertainment, and good vibes. Everyone goes through them. A person may go through something that causes a major effect on their personality or attitude. During these hardships, the one thing I learned is to keep a positive attitude and eventually, it will pass. A while ago, I had a disagreement with a friend that really put a dent in our relationship. This argument continued to the point where we did not speak. Since she was a very close friend to me, it really struck me hard and upset me. On top of this, I was stressing with school work and other things. I felt I had hit rock bottom and that nothing would ever go my way. I was always in a bad mood and took it out on my friends and family. Eventually, I realized my attitude was not only stressing me out even more, but also affecting my relationships. I decided from then on to just breathe and have a positive attitude. After trying this “new me” out, I noticed things started to change, in a good way. My stress was going away, my attitude was more pleasant, and my relationships were as strong as ever. I learned to look at things in a positive way and not to think negative thoughts. It has helped shape me into the person I am today and I try to spread that through everyone I encounter. When times are tough or seem to not be going my way, I keep in the back of my mind that I can, and will, get through this. I just have to make the most out of whatever the situation may be. I feel I am a much …show more content…
Since it had such a great influence on me to be a better and happier person, I wanted others to feel that way too. I know that I enjoy being around happy people. So why not be one of those people? The people that always have something nice to say and can make anyone laugh a little harder are the absolute best. I think this really goes along with being a positive person. Spreading the positivity and good vibes is what can make a person a positive influence on someone’s life. It’s not hard to do this either. A simple “hello” can turn a person’s day around. These people tend to have healthier and longer lasting relationships. Others enjoy to be around them because they aren’t negative and make them feel good. Not only does this person make another person feel good, but it also causes that other person to pass on the positivity. Today, so many people are so negative toward certain people or situations. It can sometimes be rare for some people to find a positive influence in their life. That’s why we all need to try to be good influences to anyone we encounter. I hope that I can be a good influence that someone can come to and count on. That feeling of security and love is great and I hope to reflect it to

Award-winning author Mandy Hale once stated, “Without negativity, life would be amazing.” However, this statement does not always prove to be true. Today’s modern community generates a judgement that negative experiences will ruin your life, but studies show that negativity can actually result in positive change. For example, negativity can positively change teenagers actions, introduce teenager’s to more supportive environments, and help fix broken relationships.
How Influence Can Change a Person As someone once said…. “Sometimes people come into your life for a moment, a day, or a lifetime. It matters not the time they spent with you but how they impacted your life in that time.” – Unknown.
Life is a constant battle between people and society. Influence plays a great role in society because it helps people define themselves. It causes a great impact on the way people live and how they interact with society. When one does not conform to the norms of society, be it via appearance or political affiliation; the individual runs the risk of not being accepted into the surrounding society.
The narrative piece, How full is your bucket, positive strategies for work and life, written by Tom Rath and his grandfather Donald Clifton, outlines a unique description of the impact of how sharing positive interactions with others (socially, intimately, in the work environment, and strangers) ensures a more fulfilling life. This book brings to light how negativity impacts your own life and the lives of individuals surrounding you. An interesting concept that was studied during the Korean War, the American captives were denies positive social interactions, and were denied support from loved ones (Rath & Clifton, 2009, p. 25). The soldiers were ultimately swayed to have a negative outlook and hopeless existence which unfortunately led to their demise. Negativity spreads to others like wildfire and takes away from your
I have learned how to be an optimistic person and spread positivity with others. Recently I went to Puerto Rico to visit my family and there I met a numerous amount of vagrant people who did not have food on a daily basis nor a home to come to after an elongated day. I felt so pleased to be able to bless those individuals with nutrition, water, and clothes. Before I developed into who I am now, I did not have goals and accomplishments, I did not really have a determination in life. Learning who Christ was helped me become more linguistic, kinesthetic and spatial.
Award-winning best-selling author Mandy Hale once stated, “Without negativity, life would be amazing.” But this statement is incorrect. Many people believe that avoiding negative people can help bring you a positive life, but that isn’t always the case. Studies show that negativity can actually help people in some ways. For example, negativity can actually change people for the better, break poor society standards, and cause broken relationships to be fixed.
The factors are heavily supported by empirical scientific data. For instance, the feeling of happiness is created and regulated biologically by the release of the neurotransmitter, dopamine. Dopamine is produced in the ventral tegmental area of the brain. Subsequently, it is released during pleasurable situations and motivates one to seek out pleasurable activity (Bromberg-Martin, Matsumoto, & Hikosaka, 2010). Thus, dopamine is essential to experiencing the feeling of happiness. Conversely, positive psychology does not play a role in dopamine production. So if it doesn’t increase dopamine levels, the it doesn’t increase happiness. In addition, the limbic system of the brain is also influential in the regulation of emotion and motivation. The limbic system is an interlinked system of nerves and networks in the brain, involving several areas near the edge of the cortex concerned with instinct and mood (Kalat, 2013). It controls the basic emotions of fear, pleasure, and anger. The proper function of the limbic system is dependent on a healthy brain that is properly interacting with biological chemicals that are produced by the body and received from our dietary intake. In contrast, positive psychology does not play a role in an individual’s body chemistry. Therefore, it is not essential in creating the
A lot of people are stuck in the negative right now because they feel alone, can 't see how to get out, and don 't have the tools to get out. They are just reliving their negative thoughts and perception over and over again, and they need someone to be an influence for them so that they can get the courage to start developing more positive thoughts and a better perception.
People could be happier, it changes people, and people could stand up to bullying. Being kind can make people happier. There is scientific research that states that being kind to people can make them be happier and it helps with anxiety and stress. I know for one thing when people are kind to me it makes me feel happy and special.
"Each contact with a human being is so rare, so precious, one should preserve it."(Anais Nin). This means that every person one comes in contact with has an influence on his life. One should never forget the people who go out of their way to be nice to them.
I was taught at an early age that life is not about having what you want, but about having a genuinely loving and happy heart. Faith, family, and love were the foundation of our happy home with our parents practicing what they preached. We were not rich by any means, but my parents worked hard to provide a comfortable living for my sister and me. Mom and dad often reminded us that they were not our “best friends”; they were our parents first and foremost. They provided the structure and discipline that we were expected to follow and if we swayed, there were penalties to pay. Needless to say, as a parent, I too have tried to lead by example. I have injected the same values that were instilled into me
My nana has always told me that one person can have an impact on the world, and that sometimes the littlest impact can make a lasting impression. She told me it is like throwing a small pebble into a pond, the ripple can be felt across the whole pond. That is why I started “One Small Pebble,” a group that looks for ways to do small acts of kindness that will start a ripple effect.
Influence is one of the greatest effects people have on us that defines who we are as we grow and learn. Influence is aroused by people media and advertisements. The largest influence in my life has been my very own family. While not all of the effects of their influence were derived from good they shaped me into who I am today. They have instilled within me traits of financial responsibility, confidence, and the courage to fail.
As a bonus, when you make someone else happy, you boost your own happiness. Research has consistently shown that doing good things for other people, as opposed to doing things for yourself or doing nothing at all, increases your life satisfaction.
