Becoming an adult comes with many harsh realities and shattered illusions. Things we once thought of as pure and sacred, many times ends up being nothing more than a facade. One of those shattering illusions that came with age was the emptiness of my favorite Disney characters. Disney illustrated innocent stories with fluffy rodents singing songs of hope, love and joy. As a young child, I was raised on the tales of many Disney princesses. I spent hours watching these beauties sing their way to happily ever after. However, I have examined some of the more horrifying themes present in Disney princess movies, resulting in my dislike for the Walt Disney Company.
In my opinion, the Disney movie Pocahontas was an epic fail. This movie is extremely historically inaccurate. I know it isn’t Disney’s job to teach history, but I don’t understand why they would make a movie based on …show more content…

Creating impossible scenarios in my mind, and dreaming of the day that my Prince Charming would come and sweep me off my feet. Thinking back, most of the Disney princesses weren’t really good figures to look up to. They had no ambition or sense of work ethic. If you really look at it, the Disney Princesses were all just a bunch of teenaged girls obsessed with marrying the first rich guy who popped the question. Most of them would disobey their parents and run off with their prince, for example Ariel basically betrayed her family to go after some guy she had never even spoken with. Snow White, a clueless ditz, eats an apple from a random stranger in the woods, which is not a good idea to teach young kids. I actually find it comical that Disney would teach these kinds of ideas to children. Disney should create more movies that shows little girls that they are not just delicate, pretty things, who’s only way to win is by batting their eyes and finding a prince, but by being determined, intelligent, and
