Every story written by the writer is set up in a frame of time and space where the characters move, live, and act. These elements become the basis of the plot structure which is also influenced by the Aristotelian Unities of Time, Place and Action. Without the time and place the plot cannot be constructed. Every novel either begins with the description of a particular period or a place where the whole story is set in. Leo Tolstoy's novels explain the periods where the plots are set in, extraordinarily. These elements are not alone explained in these novels but are found in every novel for it forms the backbone of a plot structure. These elements work wonders especially in the fictions. For example, Alice in Wonderland written by Lewis Carol, Harry Potter series written by J K Rowling, etc,. To every person who reads a novel especially a fiction there will be an impact created either by the place or the time period it is set in. The theory of Chronotopes by Bakhtin focuses on the time and space that are created by the author and it is effectively applied in Historical Fictions. The chronology of the historical events can also be identified at a lower level while it is traced in the life of character. The twenty first century writings are mostly fictional for it entertains the readers as well it provides a platform to learn things in a lighter way than to be stuffed with truths for the generation is mostly under the influence of innovations and technologies. Everyday there is something new that is being created which tends to be a part of some or the other unimaginable dream of a person in the earlier century. These innovations and the developements make the lives of the people easier as well complex.
