Cancer, for everyone, is very hard. Could you imagine what it would be like for the families of the person who has cancer? Or what about their close friends? Cancer can change people’s lives forever. No one should ever have to go through the hard time of having cancer. If they do, it can change them as a person; not just physically, but emotionally as well.
Unfortunately, many treatments that supposedly “treat” cancer can cause problems after the treatment has come to an “end”. Multiple patients can experience shock, disbelief, fear, uncertainty, guilt, anxiety, sadness, and even depression. While they will not go away completely and might resurface over time, they can be helpful. To help a patient that is struggling focusing on one thing, or has trouble comprehending the things going on around them, try to get them to find a different outlook. Have them attend to the present moment. Find them a long book series to read or a long television series with a lot of episodes.
