Taking freedom away? Restricting clothes? Wearing a baggy uniform? Not having a voice in what you wear? That's what you would be saying yes to, if you say that all students in school should wear uniforms. School uniforms should NOT be a part of school because of its many cons. For example the looks, your safety, and overall it’s just plan out easier to not wear them and to save money. Many people can agree and i’m here to tell you why! Uniforms do not need to be implemented because of the girls or the boys. Schools always make strict rules because as teachers say, ¨The boys get distracted.¨ But boys can control themselves, they can handle a girl wearing shorts made for a girl. Some boys that I asked said that they think that the boys and girls should be even and be able to both be able to show their collar bone or just not showing the collar bones at all(Zhou Li). If kids don’t want to wear uniforms then they shouldn’t have to. Kids don’t want to be the same as everyone else. If someone makes kids wear uniforms, then they’re going to start acting out because they can’t be themselves around teachers and peers. They need to express themselves. High school is typically a time when kids begin to distinguish themselves from one another. Students begin to develop their own sense of personal style, desperately trying to both fit in and stand out simultaneously. Being self-conscious and often lacking the confidence needed to assert themselves, teens are forced to use clothing and outward appearance as the means to manifest this individuality. Thus, students should not be forced to wear uniforms to school. Standard uniforms are unproven deterrents to student violence; are a "Band-Aid" to cover up the real problems faced by children and teens; and they violate students' right of self-expression, depriving them of their search for identity.

Did you know that (according to Newsela’s school uniforms article) 1 in 5 public schools require students to wear uniforms in the 2013-2014 school year. That is compared to 1 in 8 students in the 2003-2004 school year. I think that public schools should not be allowed to enforce students to wear school uniforms.
