The most-watched event in the US every year, the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl is the championship football game of the National Football League (NFL). A brief explanation of football is this, a game of two teams trying to score as many points as possible in the allotted amount of time. Each team has an offense and defense when the team is on offense they either run the ball or pass the ball to try and score a touchdown, while the opposing team's defense is trying to force the team's offense to give up the ball or the possession. If the team with the ball does score or is forced to give up possession, the offensive and defensive teams switch roles (the offensive team goes on defense and the defensive team goes on offense). The game is split into four, fifteen minute quarters. What makes football different from most sports is the violence and aggression of the game. Even though in America we are divided by many things, the super bowl is something that can make completely different people unite about something. The super bowl brings families, friends, and people from all different backgrounds together for this event. We are one country but it doesn’t feel like one with how split we all are because of the president. When there are 117 million people watching and bonding over one thing that is something special. During the super bowl, everything about religion and politics is put aside to focus on one thing. How can anything be more American, than having most of America bonding, talking, and watching the same thing. The super bowl shows what most of us Americans value, violence, sports, branding, and entertainment. If 19 of the top 20 watched programs in U.S history are the super bowl it must mean that us Americans really have a deep joy and pleasure in everything it has to
