The sea breeze caresses Clive’s face as he sat at the edge of the pier. He casts his rod, shaking his head in disappointment. It’s been five hours and still no bites. What’s up with this fishing town? Clive closes his eyes and can hear his fathers voice in the wind, retelling him about the move to Poland. Out of all the towns, why does he decide on a town called Aldabert? Sounds lame.
As dusk approaches, he reaches for his pocket watch to check the time. On the steel surface, his fathers salvage company logo was etched into it. It also has their tagline, ‘To seek the things that isn’t in front of us’. Well, since it’s close to seven, I guess I’ll be seeking dinner. Clive gathers his fishing equipment and rushes home.
During dinner, Clive

What in the world is making that noise? Clive went back to the pier he was fishing at earlier, and went to the edge and turned his flashlight on. Nothing. Suddenly, he heard someone humming behind him. He turns his head and sees a young girl slowly approaching him.
“That’s whale talk for hello”, the girl said.
“Whale talk? Are there really whales out here?” Clive asked.
“Well, not exactly here. We are close to the Baltic Sea. That’s where they live. My name is Joanna.”
“Hi, I’m Clive.”
“Clive, I like that name”, she giggled.
“Really? Well, I like your name too.” She is pretty.
“Did you just move here?”
“Yeah. My father has a salvage company that searches for rare items underwater.”
“Wow! That sounds so cool!”
“You… think so?”
“Yeah! Of course I do! I love everything about the sea. From the creatures, to the treasure you can find. Your dad is like a treasure hunter.”
“Really? I never thought of it that way. You speak really good English, are you from here?”
“Yes. My father used to live in the United States. I learned from him. I guess you’re from there too?”
“Yeah. I lived in Michigan.”
“Lucky! I want to go to the states. Tell you what, I’ll teach you some polish if you promise to take me one day to the states”, Joanna said as she gave Clive her hand to
"No, that place is Hazzard, Georgia. I live in a little town in southeastern Kentucky."
In William Shakespeare's Hamlet, the ghost of Hamlet’s father is intended to be seen as a real ghost. Around 1600, when the play Hamlet was written, many people believed in mystical creatures like witches, monsters, and most importantly: ghosts. With so many people believing in these characters, it makes sense that Shakespeare portrays the ghost of Hamlet’s father as a real figure. Many examples support this, such as when the guards in Act I scene i see the ghost, which proves it’s not just in Hamlet’s imagination. But some people can not see the ghost, such as Hamlet’s mother in Act III scene iiiii. Hamlet sees the ghost but she can not. This could be used as evidence to say the ghost is not real though. Shakespeare shows us though this information, the high complications oh having ghosts in a story.
My hands were clenched tightly around the armrest of my couch, ten minutes in to my first horror movie. I was in middle school as a 7th grader, brand new to the world of sleepovers, late nights, and scary movies. My best friend invited me over for a sleepover on a Friday night to pig out on candy, and watch a movie that would surely leave us with nightmares for a long time. I did not show it and neither did my friend, but I was apprehensive whether or not this was a good idea. I could hear my mom in the back of my head at the time saying, “scary movies are for adults, and you will regret it if you watch one.” We both acted like the movie we were about to watch, wasn’t a bigger deal than it actually was; I was terrified yet excited about the
By being both inside and outside Nick's thoughts, the reader can sense precisely the drama that Hemingway wishes to bring to trout fishing....
“Yes, but don’t you wanna spend time with your AWESOME brother before he leaves for 4 months?” he responded sarcastically. A couple of hours had passed of watching the quiet tv and a frequent “BEEP!!”
Have you ever wondered how some athletes have gotten so good at a certain sport? Have you ever thought about what they did in order for them to get this good? For some the answer is simple; workout and train. But for others the answer is different; the use of performance enhancing drugs such as steroids. There are some people that argue that steroids should be legalized and allowed in professional sports. Other people argue that steroids should not be allowed. Today I am going to state my opinion and justify my reason. Steroids should not be allowed in professional sports because it can be very dangerous to the athlete’s health, it is a way to gain and un-fair advantage and it can be dangerous in both social and physical aspects.
“You don’t know me.” My voice sounded as unsteady as his stance. He shrugged as he chuckled; the laughter turned my blood cold. He seemed to know something I did not.
It was a long and hard road to find my spirituality. Long ago I was an atheist, but after many months, even years of searching and thinking I began to find my own sense of religion. The steps cannot be done in one night. Not even in one week. They need constant revision and repetition. Sooner or later you will find your own spirituality.
The Nelly Butler hauntings is referred to as the first recorded ghost story in American history (LiBrizzi 5), and possibly the most exciting hauntings to date as there are still many unsolved mysteries. The apparition appeared on more than 30 separate occasions to over 100 witnesses in Sullivan, Maine, just over fifteen years after the American Revolution (5-6). Although the Nelly Butler apparition is one of the most convincing ghosts of all time, it was subject to suspicions of fraud. These claims turn out to be groundless as the evidence reveals the ghost to be genuine.
“ ...No. I think that person saw the wrong person, or they might even be making it up.”
Basics of Ghost Stories INTRODUCTION The ghost story writer has to attract the reader's attention straight away. The way story begins is important and often links with the rest of the narrative. The opening of a short story must try to engage the reader quickly. I think all ghost stories should always have a lot of suspense in it, to create anticipation and excitement. Some symbolic object/place for example a knife, a key must play a major part in the narrative.

Imagine this you’re sitting in your room doing homework, then you suddenly feel the temperature go down. We all hear the sounds at night, but we try to make an excuse of what we heard. We can’t help think someone is watching me, someone I can’t see. All the sounds, the sudden movements are really ghosts. There are many shows about ghost hunting and it’s hard to figure out if they are true or not.
