You gladly stroll into your favorite pizza place with excitement to dig into a mouthwatering slice of a hot pie. But then, suddenly, you stop in your tracks. Across the restaurant you see the most horrific sight you could image in a pizza place. Sitting conceitedly right in front of you, is the most disgusting, most devilish food idea ever: the Hawaiian pizza. Putting pineapple on pizza is one of the most controversial food combinations of all time. It all started in a small restaurant near Ontario, Canada. A man named Sam Panopoulos and his brothers were experimenting with pizza toppings in their Ontario-based resaurant. After adding pineapple, they layered the pizza with ham too. Many people believe the Hawaiian pizza got its name because of this ham and pineapple dou. Even the president of Iceland has shared his opinion, jokingly saying that he would ban pineapple on pizza if he had the power to make laws. In addition, hundreds of thousands of memes have been created to either crush, or raise up the idea of fruit on pizza, (and we all know how much memes impact our society).
In a survey conducted, 20 people between the ages of 12-46 were asked whether they liked or disliked pineapple on pizza, and why. The results were 8-12, with 8 people saying it does belong on pizza, and 12 saying it doesn't. After looking at the reasons why, there were four dominant answers on why or why not people like the combo.
Firstly, are the ones that believe fruit and sweetness absolutely do NOT belong on pizza. The middle-aged mother of four, Kristen Wootton, makes a spot on point.
