Something unique about me is I’m a pageant girl. I’ve grown up doing pageants since I was a baby. I have won and lost plenty of pageants throughout my career. Yes, I know what you’re thinking, being a pageant girl isn’t very unique because almost every girl is in a pageant at least once in her life. However, it is what you take with you from pageants that are unique. Everybody learns something different while doing pageants. A lot of people think pageants are about putting tons of make up on and having the most expensive dress. Pageants are so much more than putting on makeup and the type of dress you wear. It is what you learn from winning and losing. You can win or lose millions of pageants but it is what you take with you from winning …show more content…

Pageants teach us to go against people we do not know and still feel confident enough in ourselves to think we can still come out on top. There are some pageants that are bigger than others and will have more girls to compete against. I’ve been in Little Miss Missouri and Teen Missouri before and came out on top with a couple of losses in between the wins. These pageants have more categories and a lot more girls to compete against. This makes you know that you have less of a chance to win but it also makes it more interesting and fun. Having more categories means you have more chances to shine or in some cases to mess up. It is always fun to compete in bigger pageants because that means you have gone up a level in pageants and you do not have to just do local pageants. Local pageants just help you to build up your competiveness. Being competitive is a good thing because in real life you’re always competing against other people for jobs. Pageants just prepare you to know that people are not just going to sit back and let you win. You have to actually work at it and become good enough to beat your opponents. This is just one way pageants help prepare us for actual life. Pageants are not just about becoming competitive; they also help our communication …show more content…

They end up having different categories and interviews with the judges. You end up getting to meet more girls and becoming more social. You make friendships that will last a lifetime. In the higher pageants you get to room with one girl and usually that girl will become a good friend and you will always stay in touch with. When I did Teen Miss Missouri we got to go on stage and answer questions in front of a live audience much bigger then local pageant audience. This makes you more comfortable speaking around others once you speak in front of people you do not even know while on stage. This gets you ready for job interview that you will have in the future because you are already used to answering questions that usually are not about yourself. Most of the time it is about what is going on in the world and what we think about it. This makes pageant girls watch the news and learn what is going on in our country and others. Pageants really help with our social skills and get us out of our shy state, because if we were shy we would not be able to get up on stage in front of everyone. This makes us where we are more confident in ourselves while we are talking in front of people we do not know or just talking in front of school peers. Pageants help us become competitive and help us build up communication skills even if we win or lose the
