It has been said that “money makes the world go round” and most would agree, however this form of making money is drilling into the lives of aquatic animals and causing devastating results. Unfortunately it is not just oil drills that cause this but any type of oil spill in the ocean can leave the wildlife struggling to survive. These oil rigs are becoming increasingly popular since we use up so much oil on a daily basis. At what cost do we gain profit from the destruction of the earth? If we continue to tap into the natural resources of the Earth we will wring it dry of all it has to offer.
To understand to what extent of oil is being used up, just look at the annual amount of oil America alone burns up. The U.S. Used up 6. 78 barrels of oil and year, that's 22% of the world's petroleum use (U.S. EIA). That is a pretty substantial chunk of oil being drained yearly. The question comes up why do we need so much oil? The answer is simple, because most man-made transportation relies heavily on oil. There have been a few companies that have tried to reduce this by making “hybrids”, which are cars that use two different sources of energy but oil is still a part of that. It is slowly starting to change but not enough to make a dent. So it has been established that America uses up oil, but who do we rely on for our supply?

Offshoring has become popular for the fact that it does not require dependency on other countries to get oil which is a huge part of our economy. As humans we have adapted to using the resources we are given, however recent times have showed us that we are using them up with no regard for who is is affecting.Oil is just one of the many natural resources we take for granted. If we continue to drain our earth of it's natural provisions, we run the risk of killing off other resources that we need to survive. So before you pump your gas into your car for your daily commute think of how those few gallons of gas may have come at a price of a life, even if it was small, and think of how you can make a difference in the outcome of our future and our planet.
