For cancer patients that help try to erase and remove cancer cells from the body. The process of chemotherapy, a common cancer treatment process can be long and harsh on the human body since you are putting in harmful chemicals into the body. The patients suffer because there is no medicine that is allowed to be prescribed by doctors that can legitimately help the patient with their pain. However, there are people who are trying to make a case for medical marijuana. Medical Marijuana has been proven to help people who suffer from severe pain and also it has shown that it can slow down the cancer cell activity by about 25%. People think that since it is a drug that can alter brain function that it shouldn’t be allowed to be used. But when marijuana is used in the medical field it can have a lot of beneficial uses “in fact it has been shown that cannabinoids arrest cancer growths of many different forms of cancer, including brain, melanoma and breast cancer”(“Cancer and Medical Marijuana”) But many drug organizations and medical foundations such as the FDA argue that the use of medical marijuana should not be allowed to be used since it has not been properly used and they don’t know how the human body can react to the cannabis. When the FDA says that the use of marijuana for medical purposes is dangerous that is not necessarily true. “The evidence is overwhelming that marijuana can relieve certain types of pain, nausea, vomiting and other symptoms caused by such illnesses as multiple sclerosis, cancer and AIDS” so when the FDA says that marijuana does not help a person with health issues it is not true (Elders 2). Medical marijuana has many uses that can be used for the human body and if we take the time to thoroughly research what it can do and how safe it is for the people then I believe that we can make a significant breakthrough in the medical field in terms of treatments for diseases that people suffer from
