Cannabis should be legal because it does not only benefit the people but the United States as well. A lot of individuals today smoke pot so why not legalize it to benefit the economy as well. Legalization of marijuana can increase large amounts of profit. For instance, in the first six months after legalizing the drug for all purposes, Colorado made over twenty-five million dollars in pot related tax revenue. An analysis by “NerdWallet” predicted that if all fifty states were to legalize the drug for all purposes, the country would gain over three billion in tax revenue. The profit gained from cannabis would go towards “improving our education system, health care, and providing a better justice system,” (Outside Source #1).
