Why is homelessness an issue that impacts both rich and poor countries all over the world, especially now that our country is more innovative than ever before? It is crucial to find out why and how does someone get to the point of being homeless. What are the factors? How can America fix this chronic problem we see all over the streets of California, for instance how do we prevent homelessness from occurring in the first place. As a society we tend to overgeneralize, chastised, and stigmatized why someone ends up living on the streets with nothing to their name. Most countries provide a variety of services to assist homeless people. They often provide food, shelter and clothing and may be organized and run by community organizations often with the help of volunteers or by government departments. These …show more content…

In 1998, a study by Koegel and Schoeni of a homeless population in Los Angeles, California, reported that a significant number of homeless do not participate in government assistance programs; no family as they were the culprits to their own demise. Nevertheless, as a result society acts like the problem is not theirs but the individual. Yet, this is more than an individual’s single hand problem, but a moral one that needs to be addressed making it imperative for us as a society to act now! Families with children account for the fastest - growing segment of the homeless population in the United States each year making it imperative for us as a society to act now.
