“When your passion and purpose are greater than your fears and excuses, you will find a way” When I was researching quotes about achieving goals and dreams, I was confused on what to choose. Each quote has a different way of saying “no matter who you are, where you are from or what you do is important, it is within you that you have to admit to a goal and visualize how and when you can complete it.” I do have to agree that this is what I thought at the beginning when I made a list of goals, but there is life situation that rise and make us crumble down to the bottom. Whether it is a health problem, losing a loved one, or even financial problems, they all are included, but there is always a way to reach that dream. We may take a break sometime if we are facing life situations, however, do not give up on them rather work harder to achieve them. For the past five months, I changed a lot. I did list six goals on my training plan, however, I did not meet all of them for different reasons, one would be health issues. The first goal that I listed was, “improving my communication skills.” This goals is more of a broad goal rather a specific. There are many different areas where I need to fix my communication skills, whether it is in school or a professional setting. I was able to accomplish it most of it, however, it is a …show more content…
Anything that gets attention of others or makes me the center of attention gives me panic attacks. Most of the time when I am presenting in front of other, my nervousness starts showing all over my face and I start saying different things, mostly not related to the subject. I am however, getting treatment on preventing those
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts”
David Mamet once stated, “..it is the human lot to try and fail..” This quotation implies that an individual will attempt to achieve success throughout their lifetime, but he/she will also have to face the failures as well. The quote relates to the philosophy that in order to achieve something, one will have to work for it. This quotation is correct and is further supported by two literary works. The two novels are Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck and The Pearl, also by John Steinbeck. In these two novels, the protagonists know that their goals are very farfetched and out of the norm, yet they both try to achieve it and ultimately fail.
The lives of millions of immigrants are affected everyday due to limited access to acquiring legal citizenship. Out of that group there are 2.1 million children and young adults under the age of 18 that are eligible for permanent citizenship at this time (The DREAM Act). In 2001 Dick Durbin and Orrin Hatch presented a Development Relief and Education of Alien Minors (DREAM) Act that provides a path to becoming a legal citizen. The DREAM Act has yet to be passed, but there is a temporary Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)(The DREAM Act). The DREAM Act will provide options and opportunities for people to continue their path of life in America. The DREAM Act should be passed as it will benefit our economy, positively affect and strengthen our military, along with increased access to education.
Have you ever believed in something that you’ve wanted for so long that was worth everything to you? Martin Luther King, Jr. was a great asset during the civil rights movement in America. Martin Luther King Jr. wanted equality, justice, and freedom for African Americans. Not only did he want fair rights for African Americans, but he wanted peace and equality for all races so as a country we could all come together as one. Surely being an African American back during that time period, it must’ve been a very courageous act to want all races to come together. Martin Luther King, Jr. was an activist, minister, and leader of some peaceful protests. Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote a speech commonly known as “ I Have a Dream.” Out of all of America’s greatest speeches, “I Have a Dream” has to be one of the most well known speeches in history today.
Most of the United States (U.S) is comprised of immigrants—including those who have migrated to the States from another country and those whose ancestors freely travelled to the States in search of a fresh start. Every year, the U.S. grants a limited number of people around the world the opportunity to immigrate to the States each year. As a result of the restriction, citizens from neighboring countries cross the border illegally. According to an article by Jens Manuel Krogstad, 11.3 million unauthorized immigrants reside in the U.S. in 2014. This whopping number has stirred controversy both politically and economically for America’s government officials. As a result, many people argue whether illegal immigrants should or should not be aided
The education system has been changing in recent years and the same problems that existed continue to get worse as years pass. Problems that were seen as minor at first have now grown. How to change the public higher education system has been a major topic of discussion but there has still been no major action taken. We struggle to figure out how much funding is needed for higher education and where it should come from. Our people continue to suffer from an underfunded high cost system. The wealthy minority of people continue to be the only ones accounted for and it is time to change this. We need to adapt to the changes and the costs that continue to rise. It is time to help the struggling middle and lower classes. I believe that the best
Have you ever wondered how some athletes have gotten so good at a certain sport? Have you ever thought about what they did in order for them to get this good? For some the answer is simple; workout and train. But for others the answer is different; the use of performance enhancing drugs such as steroids. There are some people that argue that steroids should be legalized and allowed in professional sports. Other people argue that steroids should not be allowed. Today I am going to state my opinion and justify my reason. Steroids should not be allowed in professional sports because it can be very dangerous to the athlete’s health, it is a way to gain and un-fair advantage and it can be dangerous in both social and physical aspects.
“The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him” (G.K. Chesterton). A soldier is a soldier no matter what. If they fight behind a screen, on the front line, or from a controller as long as they’re protecting this country, the people in it, and the people fighting for it they are honorable. Some think that because one does their fighting from a remote control drone means that they have no understanding of war, and in some ways that is true, but they are still taking someone’s life when they choose to press that button just like the solders on the front line takes someone’s life when they pull the trigger. Both people are fighting the same fight: they love the country they are defending the people in it they just do it from different standpoints. Drones
Motivation is defined as the process that guides, initiates, and maintains goal orientated behavior and thought (Cherry, 2013). Motivation is what drives individuals to do what they do, whether it is something as simple as getting a drink because he or she are thirsty or something as big as getting up every day and gong to work for a paycheck.
Education is a huge topic of controversy, society is always trying to reform what we know as education today. Right now, the first 12 years of education are entirely free for students directly, but in the end are paid for by the taxpayers of the town. The question is, why should only grades k-12 be free why not a college education too? On the other hand, there are some exceptions to free schooling at the k-12 levels. The most prominent being, Private schooling, most towns in the United States have at least one if not many private schools. They require a certain amount in tuition for each of its students every year. An example of this, in my town Salem, NH one of the most known private catholic schools is St. Joseph 's. I had a good friend a few years back
Motivation is defined as the process that initiates, guides and maintains goal-oriented behaviours. Motivation is what causes us to act, whether it is getting a glass of water to reduce thirst or reading a book to gain knowledge. Goal Setting is where we set specific targets aims that we wish to achieve, they need to be S.M.A.R.T or else they become dreams rather than believable goals. .
Choosing a career is a big step. It’s important that you make sure to find the career that’s right for you. The first thing to do is to think about who you are. What are your interests? What type of personality do you have? What jobs might be a good fit for these characteristics? When you pick a few job matches, make sure to read about them. Decide if you think they will be a good match for you. When you think you have found the right one for you, you need to make a plan and set goals on how you are going to succeed in this career choice. Maybe a few years of college are necessary, maybe not. Then when you get to the step where you are ready to start looking for work, you will need to develop a cover letter and resume, and go on job interviews. All this will determine whether or not you get the job you are applying for.
This was the lesson I learnt from my father, an unceasing learner and a person who would never give up no matter how many and how difficult the obstacles may be. Having understood from him that success is a moving target, the years of my life with my family have inculcated in me a desire to achieve perfection.
When planning for our future it is important to have clear goals in mind and to understand the steps that need to be taken to achieve those goals.
