Gay marriage is one of todays most talked about subjects in the news. But for many, including myself, do not see why this barbaric belief and view is still in existence in the twenty-first century. Anybody would think that a perfect law abiding, tax paying citizen of the United States, should have every equal opportunity as any other American. But still there are so many people who are still taught or learned to believe that everyone is not created equal and does not have the same rights as other Americans. Although a majority of Americans believe that the gay community should not have the same rights as any other American, many Americans also believe in equality for everyone for the following reasons: Equality is a simple American right and should not be dictated otherwise …show more content…

If a person is a legal resident of the United States (U.S.), they are required to obey the rules, laws, and also pay taxes to the U.S. Government. And if the LGBT community is to have to pay taxes to the federal government, Follow the same rules, and obey the same laws as every other U.S. citizen, why should they have to be told who we can marry and can not marry. The Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. constitution states that it forbids states from denying any person born or naturalized in the United States “life, liberty or property, without due process of law” or to “deny any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of law. The text protects all persons whether black or white, man or woman, gay or straight, native born or immigrant. So the pursuit of equality is not a new concept that has just been created within the past few years, the founders of the U.S. created this country to be a free state, where people could begin a new life and do what they wanted to do.
