In today’s world we depend on so many types of animal entertainment. Without anywhere would all the animals go? People would not be able to go to the zoos or aquariums. By removing the presents of animals in our everyday lives we will not only be questioning the judgment of our fore father, but we also would be getting rid of many great opportunities including economics, education, and also for entertainment.
Animal entertainment has been around for decades. All the back when Romans were having chariot races and the Egyptians praised dogs as royalty. Chariot races were one of the most popular things to do or watch back in the day. If people back then could understand the relationships with domestic animals then why can’t in this day and age. Today we have so many new things like advanced technology but yet we can’t understand the simplicity of animals? If we were to ban the use of animals for sports and entertainment we would be against the will of our past generations. Animals have been in our lives for as long as we can remember so why should it be okay to abandon them now?
Many animal establishment strive off animal entertainment. Places like SeaWorld and the Animals Kingdom bring millions of dollars in and also offer thousands of job opportunities for people. In a case study that was taken between January 1, 2013 through October 31 there were around 18.9 million people that have visited one of SeaWorld parks and each person roughly average about 62 dollars spent while being there. Zoo’s enclosures and parks have been around for quite a while now, and it is the duty of the public to go to these parks to explore a new world and experience the “true” animals. People are attracted to new experiences and to learn about exotic animals and see them in their “natural” habitat, or so owners try to present zoos to the public in that way. The seller ideas to get the public to continue to go to the zoos is gaining new exotic animals that you wouldn’t normally see around your house or near civilization. As stated by DeLuca and Slawter-Volkening, zoos are used to “bringing a taste of wilderness” to its public (3), trying to give a false reality of the wilderness. Later in the same article, they stated that “fundamentally zoos exist to amuse people…..animals are reduced to actors in the play/world created by humans for humans” (DeLuca and Slawter-Volkening 4). This statement shows that humans do in fact enjoy the “fake” over the real, and that animals are only objects or toys used to amuse the people.

However, the audience is blinded by shock and awe of the show from what really happens behind the curtain. Animal cruelty, poor living conditions, and lack of legal regulation scars the animals and becomes very dangerous to the overall health of the animals and those who are around them. Although it is an important tradition to some, the torture and death of an animal is nothing to be commended or celebrated. In Margit Livingston’s article "Desecrating the Ark: Animal Abuse and The Law 's Role in Prevention" she goes on to point out how animal abuse is often viewed as an owner’s right of exercising dominion or even entertainment. Furthermore, she states that, “today, only a scant majority of state jurisdictions provide for felony-level penalties for intentional animal abuse.” Because animal abuse has been viewed so lowly throughout history, there are not proper laws in place to prevent such atrocities from occurring. One of the undisputed facts is that animals existed and inhabited the planet before humans did and humans have been dependent on animals for thousands of years.
