People rather have fun than work. Now imagine a child before the age of five. Their lives are all about fun. They love to run in circles, chew on their toes, throw sticks, run toy cars along the walls and play video games. Then imagine the child's reaction when their parents bring out an early learners worksheet. Soon, they're rolling on the floor and groaning in protest. Luckily, they'll one day be old enough for school. Then, the parents leave the teaching to the teachers.
What about before? Those first five years can’t vanish in a blur of fun. Learning is crucial at that age. The problem is that parents can't keep their children's attention. They are in a constant battle against video games. There's no wonder why. Children can't understand

Why Minecraft? Minecraft is a sandbox game that combines adventure and creativity. It is gender neutral and is available is multiple formats. These aspects makes it one of the most popular game of this generation. Children as small as two or three begin playing Minecraft on their parents phones. Also, it’s already has academic potential. Many people already use it to teach geometry and architecture at an early age.
Mojang should create an education Minecraft game. It should be available to the public and have discreet educational aspects. Children shouldn't know they are doing homework. It should be direct within the game play. For example, there can be hidden stories that lead to a secret chest filled with diamonds. Trading should allow the child to do their own counting and math. Playing records in a special pattern should unlock a nether portal. This will convince the child it's a game feature rather than an educational tool.
In turn, this could help increase Mojang’s revenue. Parents concern with video games are increasing. They are less likely to buy video games for small children. This discomfort with video games also makes them less likely to buy merchandise either. If Mojang had a video game parents agree with, they’ll witness an increase in revenue. Not only would parent’s be more likely to invest in the game, but would be encouraged to buy related merchandise as
As children are getting older, they will need to learn life skills, and homework is a great way to teach it. A site named, “Eduflow.wordpress.com”, states, “Homework
When I was younger, my favorite game to play was Minecraft. The game was a fun way to express myself and to make decisions like “It’s getting dark, maybe I should start heading home so I can sleep in my bed and avoid the mobs” and that’s most likely why I loved the game so much. I had the opportunity to do whatever I wanted and if I made a mistake the only consequence was to press “respawn” pretty simple right? At the time, yes, but as I matured and became curious, I wondered, could an online game possibly be the definition of life? Can something so many look for yet don’t find be right in the palms of my hands? Could Minecraft, a game that is made for children be the answer to a question asked for centuries?
Video games. They provide an escape from reality to explore worlds and realms beyond our own. However there is a lot of controversy surrounding wether or not video games are good for you, many people are under the impression that video games turn kids and adults alike into mindless zombies hellbent on violence but in this essay I aim to convince you that not only is this untrue but that video games are actually beneficial. I’d also like to mention that too much of anything is bad for your health, for example extremely high quantities of broccoli can be toxic.
The important thing is repetition. I think any child can play Grand Theft Auto or a first-person shooter a few times, and
Parents don’t realize that their child’s play is indeed their work; it’s just different than what people see happening in a typical classroom setting. Playing helps children grow and develop socially, physically, emotionally, and mentally; it wouldn’t hurt for older children and adults to play once in a while as well. Docia Zavitkovsky, a lifelong advocate of play, says “Discovering and questioning the world…gives children the tools to become creative, knowledgeable, integrated human beings ().” When a child plays with blocks, he isn’t just playing; he is learning how to use his imagination by building a house with an attached garage. The child is learning how different shapes go together and about the color of each shape. The child will even go through the process of destroying what he has created so he can start working again; every child you meet will enjoy that process.
“I 'm very careful about how I portray violence in my films. I do believe that violence, especially violent video games, is not a good thing for young kids” (Lee, quote hook). This quote taken by Stan Lee expresses the exact predicament video game designers are facing, about how violent video games truly are violent and effect young adults. Although video games have ratings on them just like how movies and T.V. shows do, which can protect or keep unnecessary violence away from teenagers and children. Meanwhile electronically controlled devices can still produce violence in children because of the careless portray of cruel and vicious scene’s game designers produce in their games, such games like GTA. Brutal and savage video games should
These are reasons that Minecraft day should be a holiday. I think that Minecraft is a good choice for a holiday is because; it has a lot of cool features. One feature is that it is one of the only sandbox games with no violence. The game Minecraft was made in 2009 and I have been playing the game since 2014. The game Minecraft is the world's second most popular game.
Video games based on learning are quickly becoming known as “the new frontier of learning.” Many children who have learning disabilities have an easier time learning basic skills from playing games rather than looking through a textbook. When learning is disguised as a fun pastime, children are more likely to welcome it. Video games can be utilized in school to influence children into becoming more comfortable with their own knowledge. In some cases, children feel incompetent to their peers because they are not as gifted in math or writing. By using video games, students are not expected to compete with their classmates, so they will become confident and outgoing which, in turn, will show their true talents. A group of researchers at the University of New York conducted an experiment with a group of students that were assigned to play video games competitively or on their own. Through performing this test, they concluded that those who chose to play competitively, or on their own both had an increased final score because they were able to play at their own leisure ("Educational Video Games Can Boost Motivation to Learn.", 2013). Observing how video games can help both gifted children, as well as the individuals who are struggling, is evidence that video games can be as useful as they are

Though many people see the negatives in playing video games there are positives. A recently published meta-analysis by Uttal in 2013 concluded that the spatial skills improvements that resulted from playing video games that incorporated elements of shooting have the equivalence of the effects of high school and university-level courses targeted at improving these same skills. With that benefit could some high school level courses be altered? How will this change the classroom atmosphere? Even with games such as Sims 3 the players must build a “virtual” life for themselves from the ground up. Essentially the avatar or virtual character has to socialize, learn new skills to obtain a job and acquire a better home along with finding a husband, wife, and friends and have possible kids. Even though this is a virtual world it still builds on social skills as well as becoming a common interest to kids outside the game (helps build actual friendships). According to a study done by Adachi and Willoughby in 2013 it showed that the more kids that played games such as the Sims i.e. (role- playing games) the more improvements the children had in problem s...
The first reason video games are an issue is that many video games made today possess content that many people would consider to be obscene. The term obscene covers violence, profanity, and sexual images (obviously). Such videogames are usually branded with the M (mature audiences only) rating on the front of the videogame cover. This means that only players seventeen or older should be playing such games. However, many children around the ages of twelve and under are acquiring these video games as gifts or are purchasing the games themselves. Therefore, it can be assumed that the parents are purchasing M-rated games for their children, and that stores are willingly selling these young children M-rated games. As Paul Keegan says, parents are not following these ratings and stores are not enforcing them, thus allowing young children to view content that is considered obscene (6). Thus, if parents understand and follow the various video game rating labels, and if stores enforce the videogame rating system, then young children will not be as easily able to view mature material.
I knew very early in life that I enjoyed working with children; I am drawn to their eagerness to learn, their trusting nature, and their inquisitive minds. It has always been a joy for me to be around children, who are eager to learn. Children are thrilled when an adult takes time to read to them. After hearing a story only a couple of times, they are like a tape recorder set on replay. Their thirst for knowledge is overwhelming. At the elementary level, children also tend to have a very trusting nature. They rely heavily on their elders for guidance. Most children are very honest with their feelings and don't try to hide them. This is a crucial time in a child's life; it is a time when teachers and parents should be molding them for the future. It seems their minds are always working on something which makes them extremely inquisitive. Their curiosities seem never to be satisfied. Children are always asking "why?" even when they know the answer. The inquisitive child wants to know the how's, when's, and where's of everything.
Since the Early 70’s video games have been giving a bad name. Parents state that video games rot the minds of children and are influencing them do be violent. These accusations are far from the truth. In my research I found that there are many positive effects of gaming. Some of these effects are increased skills, creativity, general knowledge, and also help those in need. Parents can also take proper precautions and look into a game before buying it to see if it meets the criteria discussed in this paper.
Children are born with a blank slate and are not good or bad by nature. These characteristics are not determined at birth but are learned behavior. Young children entering elementary school are excited and open to learn. It is the teachers’ task to keep the creativeness and attention of each student. Basically, children want to learn.
