Becoming a teacher is something I look forward to because I feel like I would be a great individual to put a positive impact on these kids lives. Some areas I would be able to touch are in the community, athletics, and in the classroom. In the community, I could show them that giving back is highly important because it’ll keep our community rolling with good character. With them being involved with the community, it advances their knowledge about what goes on in the real world. An outcome from this could show what the interests are in the individual or what and how far the person is willing to go to help others. For example, I got off to a rough start with her because I never had a teacher who was so welcoming, but because of the kind heart that she has, she found ways to get to know me even when I didn’t have to describe specifics about myself. If it wasn 't for her I probably wouldn 't be where I am today. She encouraged me to see a little further down the road, along with picturing how I would want to spend the rest of my life. In my eyes, she played a role as a problem solver. I think in a teacher, that’s a great aspect of having because it makes students feel more comfortable and keeps students more engaged in class with activities and lessons. My educational philosophy contains many things: of course, to get an education, to be active in learning, get feedback on students, steady learning environment, and a student-teacher emotional connection. I would really like my students to be engaged because it shows me if they 're learning. Somehow I would like to get feedback from my students because I would be able to understand where they are at with the learning process. Moreover, I would love that student-teacher emotional connection because I want to be able to relate somehow to my students or just even understand what they been thru in their lives. After viewing the panel discussion about how our local school districts have implemented English Language Learning in their school, I am very intrigued. From what I gathered the field of ELL is a growing industry in education, especially in Colorado Springs. We have ELL’s students coming from all over the world. Here in Colorado Springs alone, school districts have to accommodate for over fifty different languages spoken by ELL’s. I can only imagine the challenge that comes with such a diverse group of non- English speakers in our community schools.
The education system has been changing in recent years and the same problems that existed continue to get worse as years pass. Problems that were seen as minor at first have now grown. How to change the public higher education system has been a major topic of discussion but there has still been no major action taken. We struggle to figure out how much funding is needed for higher education and where it should come from. Our people continue to suffer from an underfunded high cost system. The wealthy minority of people continue to be the only ones accounted for and it is time to change this. We need to adapt to the changes and the costs that continue to rise. In my first years of teaching I plan to get a better understanding of my school community and the surrounding community, so I know where and how to get support for my students. I plan on attending trainings to keep up with the various concepts and principles that I will have to follow when teaching. I will also need to develop deeper understandings of adolescent development which will help when I am teaching to see changes in behavior and understanding and how it relates to each individual student. As a long term goal I will build relationships with fellow teachers to provide them support and learn together to become a team of advocates for our students. I know that it is up to me to grow and continue learning all that I can to provide my students the best learning experience possible.

I believe teachers should serve as role models and be the center of a classroom. In order to maintain that students stay on task and are all on the same page, the teacher needs to serve as a guide and direct the students. I do not believe that students learn best in a textbook based setting, but that textbooks are important when referencing material. I believe all students learn differently and look for new ideas or ways to teach lessons and concepts, so that my students can learn as effectively as possible. I also believe that a teacher teaches much more than the subject. It is very important for students in my classroom to something other than the subject that I teach. I want them to learn life skills that will help them in more areas and aspects of their life other than education. Education is meant to be the key to a successful life. It is supposed to inspire great ideas, and prepare each and every generation for their future. However, school for today 's generation fails to meet those requirements. Every student knows education is important, but when school is not engaging or in some cases, even relevant, it makes learning difficult. Improving the school system is something educators attempt to accomplish every year. Despite their best efforts, there are numerous flaws students see, but adults overlook. There is a lack of diversity for students to learn, an overabundance of testing, and students’ voices are being ignored on how to create a more productive learning experience.
Being a teacher is a noble cause, though it also seems to be the dream of idiots and morons. It is a job where you work constantly and are always told what to teach. You are expected to teach to a standardized test. It is a job path that only the bravest take. The people who claim that those who can’t do teach, know nothing about teaching or how hard it is to teach. Especially high school students who have no desire to learn. Children in their last required chapter in their education. Their young pubescent minds focused more on the opposite sex over their grades. How do you teach such a difficult age group? How do you keep them engaged? Especially with a subject that so many find boring and tedious, English and English literature.
Many people on this earth grow up saying they would like to make a difference in this world. However, half of those people do not feel like putting in the work in order to do so. As an elementary education major, making a difference is one of the main goals. There are many benefits of becoming a teacher, and students benefit as well. In order to have many students successfully graduate from one grade to the next a teacher should be willing to put in as much work that is needed. Elementary school is where children are set up for the rest of their education. It is important to understand how to go into this career field, becoming a teacher has its own benefits, and the children are able to benefit from teachers.

They express the significance of what hard work, courage, determination, potential, and rising above and beyond can give a person who has a good education behind them. History books tell of a not so long ago point in time when America had an economy focused on physical labor that produced goods and then turned into a knowledge-centered one geared toward offering services. Looking at American now, one would never be able to guess that for a while education was important. Times changed and it was found that advanced knowledge and creativity was a thing to aspire too. Women fought hard just to be able to have the right to an education. “American politicians and pundits have regularly stressed that education holds the key to the country's future. Everyone seems to agree that good schools are prerequisites for broad economic prosperity, individual social mobility, and a healthy civil society in which informed voters engage in the public issues of the day.” (Mehta)
Education has played an important role in people’s lives and receiving the best education is a right to all humans, but now in days we can see that our education system is in deep distress. This is made evident by the low rate of graduates; that’s why our education system needs to be improved. Many people think that our government is responsible for our bad education system, However, teachers are the real issue even though many teachers are saying they 're doing their best, they’re not. How do we improve our education system? For a start, we need to provide better teaching programs for teachers to improve their skills and make them earn their tenure instead of just giving it to them.
I am so excited about one day teaching our children. My goal is to be a positive influence on a child and I cannot imagine anything more important to do with my life than helping children. A quote from Herbert Kohl sums up my feelings of becoming an educator: “I believe the impulse to teach is fundamentally altruistic and represents a desire to share what you value and to empower others. I am not talking about the job of teaching so much as the calling to teach. Most teachers I know have felt that calling at some time in their lives.” My dream is to someday soon fulfill my calling.
