Personal Narrative: The Birth Of My Child

The birth of my daughter was an amazing experience for me, but it also showed me how strong of a woman I married. Nine months earlier, my wife decided to have our daughter without any pain medications or an epidural. She was going to give birth naturally. She was very careful in choosing what she ate and drank, since our daughter consumed everything my wife consumed. Through our research, we found that natural childbirth results in less complications and a quicker recovery for the mother and child. Natural child birth is not for everyone, but she told me later that she would do it again.
Being first time parents, we heard about a lot of experiences and were educated with quite a few opinions. It was a pretty normal nine months with regular doctor visits, getting our daughter’s room ready for her arrival, a baby shower, and getting 3D images taken. We were the typical first time parents. My wife told her that the baby was coming whether she was seven centimeters or not; so the nurse calmly raised the blanket to take a look. The look of panic and surprise filled her face as she lowered the blanket and told that the baby was on her way and that she was ten centimeters dilated.
Dr. Steinberg was called into the room to help deliver our daughter. I stood at my wife’s side holding her hand and encouraged breathing exercises. Dr. Steinberg took a look and told my wife it was time. She tried to breathe and push, but it was not working. Dr. Steinberg, not being mean, told her that she would need to figure it out and the baby would come when she would. The process took 30 minutes of pushing and
