Personal Narrative: Soccer Tournament

Tournament Day It was Spring of 2015. We were at our soccer tournament called the Spring Shootout in Verona, WI at the Reddan soccer park. My team was playing, the Monona Grove u14 girls team and we were just about to play our first game. Our first game was at 7:30am, and when we got to the field, you couldn't see because of the thick fog. The grass was full of morning dew and the fields were muddy. The game had started and we were playing Sun Prairie. Everyone was tired but we ended up beating them 3-0. Our next game was against Rush WI. We played a hard battle and we ended up tying at the end of the game. This resulted in a shootout. Our coach, Coach Haase and Coach Mussie, had a big decision to make. One at a time we walked to the penalty box. We scored the first 4 goals and had one more to go. Rush had also scored 4 goals so it was up to the last person. We were up first. Everyone on our team turned away because of the nervousness that was going through our bodies. Our coach had just said to us, “You can do it,” as we were just sending the last person up to shoot. Slowly I got to the box and the ref blew his whistle and signaled me to shoot. I backed up slowly so that I could take a running start. I looked behind me. All I saw was everyone in the stands directly facing the goal. All I could think to myself was, “Please make this for your team, don’t let them down.” I didn’t want to kick it over the goal so I leaned head over the ball and hit it in the bottom right corner of the net. That was it. I made it. Now my whole team was hoping that the other team would miss or our goalie, Jenny, would make a save. They ran up to the penalty box and waited for the ref to blow his whistle. He whistled and she ran. Jenny was ready for whatever she would kick. She ended up kicking it right where our goalie was and Jenny saved it. The game was over and we won. Next is
