Tournament Day It was Spring of 2015. We were at our soccer tournament called the Spring Shootout in Verona, WI at the Reddan soccer park. My team was playing, the Monona Grove u14 girls team and we were just about to play our first game. Our first game was at 7:30am, and when we got to the field, you couldn't see because of the thick fog. The grass was full of morning dew and the fields were muddy. The game had started and we were playing Sun Prairie. Everyone was tired but we ended up beating them 3-0. Our next game was against Rush WI. We played a hard battle and we ended up tying at the end of the game. This resulted in a shootout. Our coach, Coach Haase and Coach Mussie, had a big decision to make. One at a time we walked to the penalty box. We scored the first 4 goals and had one more to go. Rush had also scored 4 goals so it was up to the last person. We were up first. Everyone on our team turned away because of the nervousness that was going through our bodies. Our coach had just said to us, “You can do it,” as we were just sending the last person up to shoot. Slowly I got to the box and the ref blew his whistle and signaled me to shoot. I backed up slowly so that I could take a running start. I looked behind me. All I saw was everyone in the stands directly facing the goal. All I could think to myself was, “Please make this for your team, don’t let them down.” I didn’t want to kick it over the goal so I leaned head over the ball and hit it in the bottom right corner of the net. That was it. I made it. Now my whole team was hoping that the other team would miss or our goalie, Jenny, would make a save. They ran up to the penalty box and waited for the ref to blow his whistle. He whistled and she ran. Jenny was ready for whatever she would kick. She ended up kicking it right where our goalie was and Jenny saved it. The game was over and we won. Next is
One incident that happened to me that change how I thought about sports was when I first started playing soccer. It all started when my mom said that I should join a sport to get me more active. It took me awhile to choose soccer at first because there were so many sports to choose from. I told my mom I wanted to play soccer. She signed me up to play for a non competitive league (GYSA) so I can learn the basics of the sport. She also told me to play I would have to maintain good grades. After hearing that i always tried my best in soccer and school.
While I was in high school, I joined the soccer team. There were 15 girls in a team. There were three girls, whose last name was Lepcha. Who think that they play better soccer then everybody in a team and they do play well but not good as they thought they were. They had started playing soccer for one or two years ago. There were two other girls, whose name was Sabina and Dilu. They were my best friends. My one friend Sabina had played soccer for quite long and she played well but she did not have an attitude as Lepcha did. My second friend was Dilu; she was not that good at soccer. I was more than ready for the lacrosse game to begin, we were playing our biggest rival and the most physical team in our whole division. We were pumped, the air horn rang for the games to begin and they did. It was apparent that we were coming out on top, we scored three goals in under six minutes. We kept this up until the air horn blew to indicate half time and we were up by four. Soon enough I was back under the heat of the sun playing. Time was ticking down and we were only ahead by a one goal margin. Somehow, I got the ball all the way down and ready to shoot. In a blink of an eye, a girl swung her lacrosse stick, missing my stick, instead hitting my head. Rather than being escorted off the field because I was hit, I continued playing; this was a bad move on me.
Ryan had worked his whole life to be in the moment and he was ready to score a goal. He was on the bench when he the crowd go silent he realized that the score was 1 to1. The coach yelled we still have time. After that the team is as quiet as a mouse they all know what they have to do. With a 3 minutes left to play he is put into the game. The next 3 min were a blur. The next thing he remembers is the red goal light going off and horn sounding and the crowd screaming as loud as they can. Is team joins him to congratulate him his first goal. With 35 sec left they were on top 2 to 1. Then the game was over he had just scored the winning goal he had worked all his whole life for this moment. On February 28, 2005, I experienced one of the most exciting events that anyone could ever experience – winning a State Championship. The day my soccer team made history is a day I’ll never forget. However it is not just that day we won the title, but the whole experience of the preceding season that got us there. From start to finish, my team’s 2004-2005 season taught me that the platitude is true. You can do anything you set your mind to.
In 2014 I was determined to make the high school soccer team. Every day at 8 am at the beginning of a dreadfully hot August morning, I would get to the turf fields for 4 hours and participate in “hell week”. After a long week, I made the JV team. I was never put into the game and felt like my hard work was put to no use. My sophomore year rolled around and I tried extra hard to impress the coaches. Anything and everything was a competition to make it to the top. By the end of the week, we all gathered around the paper that had names of the players who made it. I didn’t make the team. We were playing against the McAllen High School. I was a starter post on the team we were losing by 10 the first half of the game. We had 5 minutes of halftime the team and I were so upset that we were losing so we decided to pray to gain our confidence back. Once halftime was over starting five went back in we started well with defense once again, we stole some passes, but didn’t make all baskets to catch up to. Until last quarter I made 12 points and I was so happy to make 12 points for the to catch up against our opponent. Our team was still a few behind at the end of the game we didn’t win but I was proud of myself for making those 12 points for the team even if we did not win. My teammates and coaches were so proud of all of us not just me but of each one us for working together not to lose by a lot and not making ourselves look like fools. It was the first since tournaments that I realized that we had a great team that would support each other during a game. Success comes from people who believe in you and support you through things you go through. Success is nor found nor is it a miracle, success is created by you own self from being prepared of how to succeed in life and how you are going to get there because you cannot find success you have to make success find you in. My team, Brookfield, encountered many hard times to win this spot in the finals, and we ended up losing in overtime. We were down two to zero in the first half. Everyone was working vigorously. At half time, my coach gave us an encouraging pep talk. It hyped us up and gave us hope. Then in the second half, my team scored two goals to tie the score up. This made the game go into overtime. During the overtime period, which was two five minute halves, Waukesha scored another two goals. At the end of regulation, my team was devastated by the loss. We were defeated four to two. On the other hand though, we were delighted we got this far and took second. Weather
Growing up in El Salvador, soccer was a sport that significantly impacted my childhood. My cousins and uncles taught me how to play soccer, as well as various techniques that would later benefit me on the soccer field. At the age of seven I started to play for one of most well-known soccer clubs in El Salvador. Practicing twenty three hours a week was really paying off, as I could see in my medal and trophy gain. Not only did they represent my accomplishments, but they also gave joy to my teammates, community, and family because they were the people who encouraged me to give my best. When the clock struck three, everyone was ecstatic because school was out for fall break, but my team was thrilled only because we were loading the bus for Albany, Ga to begin the Region softball tournament. On the way, the atmosphere on the bus was electric. The ride to Albany is generally short, but that day it felt like hours. Once we finally arrived, we were the first team there. I was excited and confident my team was going to get the two wins of the day, however things didn’t go as planned. We thought when entering the tournament ranked number one, teams feared us, but into the second game, we were quickly proven wrong when we lost to crisp county 5-2. All I remember was all the girls on my team screaming and running towards me. Luckily, I was at the right place at the right time and headed the ball into the net. I scored the winning goal and it felt amazing. We won the championship!
My team was trailing by a touchdown the whole game, but Shane, who was on my team, made a pick six to tie the game with five minutes left of recess. All we had to do was stop the other team from scoring and then get the ball back and score. That was easier said in done though. The other team was forcing their way down the field and all hope appeared lost, but then out of nowhere the other team fumbled the ball on a fake hand-off. In the midst of all the chaos to get the ball I saw my team come out with the ball. Now the game was tied and we had the ball, but there was only enough time for one more play and we were in the other teams redzone. I remember asking Mrs.Shafer for a little extra time so we could come up with a play and she allowed
I woke up and got dressed for the game, I put on my shorts, gathered all my equipment, and made a game plan for the big game. I thought to myself, “I need to play the best game of my life and never quit.” I went downstairs and heard a car honking outside. I went to the door, put on my cleats, and went outside. My friend George and I got out of the car and put on our equipment, and went to start practicing. I was the goalie so of course I have the biggest responsibility on the field. I knew I had to step up and make a lot of saves.

He is not only as fast as lightning but can also stick handle around any NHL team blindfolded. He made a quick move to the left, and then to the right. He took the shot which went top shelf on the right side. The second I saw the net move I knew we had done it. The underdog team defeated the 1st ranked team in the state championship game for Missouri high school hockey. An uproar from the mob of people could have been heard from two miles away. I couldn’t believe we had done it. We beat the odds, and took the cup. I felt shivers travel down my bruised and cut body. The hard work did pay off, for we had done it. The tears were flowing like the water dropping from the Niagara Falls. We were State Champions.
It was November 1st and it was the day of my last volleyball game. I ran into my friend Eri and we started talking about the game later that day. It was against Tunkhannock. They were the best volleyball team from our area, and wouldn’t you know it on our senior night we had to play against them. Senior night was the one night where the seniors were recognized, whether they were good or not. The whole day the team was joking about how much we would lose by against our rival team. In a game to fifteen we thought we would end up owing them points.
