I had been searching for weeks; I scoured plenty of websites and had finally found him. He was in a tiny jail in Orlando that wasn’t too far away from my house. We called to confirm that he was there and would be available to be seen the next morning. A young lady with a high pitched voice answered, “Hello, how may I assist you?” she asked. My mom proceeded to ask if he was available, indeed he was. My mom had arranged to have work off. Despite having school the next day I was too excited and wanted to see him as soon as I could; not surprisingly my mom let me stay home so I could go. I made sure to set my alarm then passed out as soon as my head hit the pillow. I woke up at six in the morning, the sunlight peaked through the blinds in my room. I wanted to roll over and fall back to sleep after slapping my alarm off even though I wanted to get to the jail as soon as possible. I finally forced myself awake; as soon as my feet touched the cold tile I got goose bumps. I shuffled over to the thermostat to turn the heat on then walked into the bathroom. The manager told us, “You will have to pay a ninety dollar adoption fee and fill out a few forms.” My mom began to fill out the forms after we arrived at the lobby and received the forms from the lady there. I patiently waited, texting my friends, “OMG!” “I am so excited to bring him home!” and “He is so cute!” After contemplating for a while we decided to name him Benji; it fit him to a tee. The manager brought him out in a blue collar. I took the car keys and brought Benji to the car while my mom turned in the forms and payed the fee. I could see happiness gleaming from him as I picked him up and placed him in the warm backseat. I was glad to add him as a new member to my family. To this day I never regret adopting him and continue to look forward to seeing him every day when I get home from
