If I were to go anywhere for just 12 hours it would be Tikal, Guatemala. It’s so pretty and green there with lots of unique animals like monkeys, parrots, coatis and turkeys, which you can only see at zoos in America but in Guatemala they just roam around everywhere in the jungles. The weather is very nice as well, It is always warm and very humid but it feels great. It is an awesome place to learn new things, volunteer to help people that are in poverty since it is a third world country,and it's an awesome place to relax and have a good time! Guatemala is very family friendly and people of all ages will enjoy anything you decide to do. It's very different than anything that there is in the United States. One attraction that is amazing is the mayan ruins. There are huge temples that you get to go through and they are nothing like you’ve ever seen before. You can get a tour guide while you are there to educate you more on what you are looking at or you can just go along by yourself. They were built around (AD 682–734) and found in between 1955 and 1964. They’re very big and they have a lot of stairs. So you’d want to bring a lot of water. It is similar to Mexican food in some ways but it is also very differently. Guatemala definitely has it's own taste. Tikal doesn’t have many modern things so there is only about four restaurants around the ruins because they want to keep it how they found it and not ruin any of the ancient grounds. The Comedor Tikal has a variety of foods like huevos, homelettes, and sandwiches. Although there will probably be a lot of people there since there is so few restaurants, it would be a great place to have a quick bite to eat and learn how the food is made and tastes in the Guatemalan culture
