Personal Narrative: My First Soccer Player

It was about sometime in 2015 or 2016, and it was my first soccer game which I was really excited about. I had really wanted to play soccer on a team since I was five. I had and still do watch videos on YouTube of good players playing to get inspiration. I then tried it myself, and got good at it. All of that practice led up to that moment. The ref then blew the whistle right after everyone got onto the field. The game was off and I was really confident that my team would win. I tried my best to make it seem easy, so I would do better. My mindset is mainly what helped me do better. I was playing a position called “center forward,” which is basically the most important position besides goalie. Soon the ball got to my team’s goalie, so I started running upfield for the ball. Just as I was about to pass the other team’s defense, I then yelled, “here!” I then got the ball and it was just me and the other team’s goalie. I then dribbled closer to the goal. I first did a fake shot and made the goalie fall, then I nailed the ball into the goal like my foot was a hammer and the ball was a nail. Once the ref blew the whistle, they lost the ball immediately. The game then stayed pretty steady for the rest of the game, with nobody scoring. Then next thing I know, the other team just scored! We had won the game! I ran off the field satisfied with my performance, that caused my team to win to first game of the season. I then quickly grabbed my stuff and went to find my mom. As I approached her she said loudly, “great job!” And that made me a lot happier than I already was. I was most proud of myself when the other team scored, and I just pushed through like a train. That taught me a good lesson, to push through no matter what. A famous quote to go along with that lesson is: “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” -Wayne
