Personal Narrative: Improving My Writing

When writing, there were some factors that I was confused or simply didn’t have the knowledge of. Thankfully over the past semester there was a great amount of material I learned about English. There were many things I could improve on, such as grammar, thesis, and organization. However, organization was the main problem for myself throughout the semester. Fortunately, during the semester I was able to improve my organization in my writing.
The problem of not knowing how to organize my writing shined the most in the LC2. When I first turned in my LC2, I received many comments on exactly how I should improve it. Some of the comments were “one thing to work on is organization”, “[I] need a thesis statement in the first paragraph”, and “try to make the first sentence [in each paragraph] into a topic sentence” from my teacher. Even though these seem straight forward and to the point I was confused on exactly how to improve the paper. While referring back to the notes taken the most important things I needed to work on is my topic sentences and how great the paragraph transition into the next paragraph. At first, organization seemed like a complex enemy, but after sitting down and talking to someone about the weakness I learned what it takes to overcome it. Organization is about how good one makes the composition flow. There are so many factors that influence how organized a paper is, such as the thesis statement, topic sentences, and the transition in between paragraphs.
