America, the land of the free and home of the brave. Our magnificent country is sought as a new homeland for immigrants trying to achieve the american dream. Our country has a poor system in regulating immigration. An account attesting to this is the words of an immigrant himself, Gonzalo, who came here as a child ,however, he was never legalized with paperwork and now finds himself conflicted as he states “I am scared to be deported to a place that I do not know.”This provides insight into the major immigration problems we are facing today, whether it is the overpopulation, threats of deportation, or illegal residents who have not yet gone through the legalization process. We are the home of the free, and should not have limits. We must keep America open to new people, yet have some restrictions within reason. I have great pride in my home country, and have a great outlook on its future in welcoming new people to this wonderful home. America is the land of dreams for many of the immigrants around the world. Many hope to achieve the famous “American dream,” in which the American lifestyle becomes part of their everyday life with plenty of success. One of the many people who have achieved this goal was German immigrant, Irmgard Lafrentz. She wanted to start her own business, but was unable in Europe because it was too “bureaucratic”. Too many people were centered around their own finances rather than entrepreneurship, however, Americans are thought to be risk takers in this field, willing to invest in her business. This was a major contribution to her success. She stated “ what makes me happy is that I created a successful business,” and “ I think I did my job and even fulfilled my dream of having my own business.” Her journey and experience within this country should inspire all to be accepting of new immigrants because we all know that we reside in the land of opportunity. This wonderful story of accomplishment shows that America should not be a exclusive land that should be open to all in hopes of living freely with more
