The occupation I chose was Athletes and Sports Competitors. The sport I want to go into is football. The nature of work is based on practice and the work you put into when you step on the field to play the game. The sport of football is in a way complicated but simple after a while. It is a fun sport to play, but to play in the NFL you need to have a lot of talent. The typical work setting is a sports arena. For example the New York Giants play in in MetLife stadium. Educational wise they need to know the English language, administration and management, psychology, communications and media, and lastly therapy and counseling. The average salary for athletes and sports competitors is was $44,680 per year in 2015. That was in May of last year. And in May 2012 it was $40,060. The lowest 10 percent was $18,040 and the highest was $187,200. Athletes and sports competitors often work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. They usually work more than 40 hours a week for several months during their particular sports season. They may be exposed to all weather conditions. Athletes and sports competitors typically have at least a high school diploma or equivalent. They must have superior athletic talent and immense knowledge of their sport, which they usually get through years of experience at lower levels of competition.
