Recommended: Influences of parents on child development

INTRODUCTION: My intended choice of theme is going to be about the search of personal identity throughout a person’s life. I’m going to be capturing the images of life that almost everyone may or may not have experienced. To address the 4th Dimension, time will be represented by capturing images throughout the subject matters lifespan. From birth to adolescence to adulthood. My intended choice of media will be social media. Primarily through the photo and video sharing app Instagram, the final product will be presented there.

The items around a person’s life as they are developing their identity are very important. For example, if someone were to grow up around sports equipment, they may get influenced and shape their identity around these items. This theme is relatable to me as I am in my adolescence and making decisions on my education, developing my interests and passions. Slowy forming parts of my identity. Overall, despite everyone having different identities, we all go through life’s journey to find our true selves. For this reason I chose this theme.

Despite these ideas relating to the theme, they probably would have been misinterpreted for different themes, such as:spiritual pathways of life, capturing of landscapes and culture. Whereas, capturing the passage of time through one’s life gives a clear message of the type of journey they are facing, and what the subject matter is doing with their life with the items they are presented with. My body of work will be staged photography, so it will require some planning for preparations. Pre-sketches will be needed in order to figure out the placement of the subject matter, the techniques of lighting, etc. My body of work and theme is inspired by Street Art.
