Accepting personal responsibility is acknowledging that you are the only person responsible for the choices you make in your life. Life is one choice after another, and what you decide to make of them will determine your life experience. On the self-assessment for accepting personal responsibility I scored an 80, which I believe to be a pretty accurate score. I have been raised to accept responsibility for myself even if it means getting in trouble or upsetting someone, because if I didn’t accept responsibility than someone else might get the blame for something I did. However, it is not always about coming forward and accepting what you did. Sometimes when life gets hard people tend to blame other people for the things that go wrong, but …show more content…
On the self-assessment for discovering self-motivation I scored a 77 which again I believe is fairly accurate score for myself. Ever since I went back to public school in tenth grade after being home schooled I wanted to prove the people who said home school kids were dumb. So, I studied and work extremely hard to make sure I received high b’s and a’s on every report card I have received in high school. But, the more I studied and received good grades I realized that I didn’t do it to prove someone wrong, but because it felt good to know that I can do this by myself if I believe in myself.
To master self-management is to have consistence, without consistence planning its difficult to take a purposeful action in purist of the goals and dreams imaged. I scored a 60 in these category on the self-assessment, which is accurate depending on the situation. In school I am normally good at self-management, but like many other I lose the motivation when it comes to planning, so hopefully this course will help me with

This is known as self-awareness which is a important, because it allows us to have a better understanding of ourselves. I scored quite low on this with only a 42, but I plan to increase that score as the class moves forward. If I gain self-awareness I hope to make the changes I need and build on the areas of strength as well as the areas that need improving.
Adopting lifelong learning can have serval different meanings according to the textbook its finding valuable lessons and wisdom in nearly every experience they have. I believe I scored a 59 in this category, due to the fact I view learning as a somewhat fearful thing, because I am terrified of failure. However, I do enjoy learning new things at the same time if I fully understand what I am learning.
Emotions can be difficult to control sometimes, especially when it feels like your life long dream and goals are riding on them. If I get overwhelmed I normally panic and end up messing up what I was working on therefore I usually end up redoing whatever I messed up. Its very easy to get anger or frustrated at school work sometimes, but I have learned if I take a break from what I’m working one I am normally able to go back with a blank mindset. Due to this system I have set up for this type of problem, I believe it was the reason I score a 64 in this
Personal responsibility is the idea that people have full control over their actions. Things like basic health and hygiene can be seen as personal responsibility because they are actions that are carried out independently. In my life, I don’t have to shoulder responsibilities all by myself because my sister helps me balance things out. Although I am still solely responsible for the outcome of my decisions, it is easier for me to act reasonable with help by my side. Personal responsibility to me is the act of taking care of yourself while owning up to any mistakes you made.
Responsibility is a concept generally tagged towards adults, but during adolescence preteens are introduced to series of tests aimed to prepare them for what is to come. The time frame of middle school to high school shows preteens and teens that they have to make appropriate decisions when situations present themselves in their life. Dealing with responsibility of one’s own life is an ongoing challenge that takes time to get accustomed to. Instances related to adolescents taking responsibility for one’s self are apparent in social aspects, health-related aspects, and academic aspects.
As children, we look to our parents to teach us skills that we need in everyday life, whether it be social skills or how to. Yet for a variety of reasons, some children do not have this personal role model for them to follow and learn from. For these children, their teachers may be the first adult to give them any sort of attention or care. As a result, a teacher can play a huge impact in a young child’s life. The Allentown School District’s high schools are both considered Title I schools, meaning that over 40% of the school’s students come from families that are legally considered low-income (www2.ed.gov). In the ASD, this number is nearly doubled at 88.7% (www.allentownsd.org). Most likely, these students come from homes in which the adults they live with are working most of the day and
A team is a group of individuals, all working together for a common purpose. The individuals comprising a team ideally should have common goals, common objectives and more or less think on the same lines. Individuals who are not compatible with each other can never form a team. They should have similar if not the same interests, thought processes, attitude, perception and likings.
“We are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future.” Responsibility is a big part I am at college and have a job here today which a reason for everyone but for me that didn’t sit in till freshman year of high school I was care free until football. What I had to do was to work together on the field also in the classroom or I would let the team down. Our coach always told us there is teamwork, hard work, and respectful will follow us around for the rest of your life that’s what we are going to learn. I would have to say looking back on it I definitely learn those things from what I did make a better person I would have to thank him for that too.
Egoism is the philosophical concept of human self-interest and the relationship between ethics, altruism, and rationality (Robbins). Psychological egoism and ethical egoism are the two concepts or positions that explain how one is or ought to be motivated to obtain their self-interest. The difference between ethical and psychological egoism is that the former deals with how a person should act and the latter deals with a universal concept practiced by all. With the theory of psychological egoism, selfishness proves it to be false; thus, can true ethical egoism be possible?
The second issue that I identified, relates to autonomy or self-determination. I struggled with labelling this fundamental concept in the social work discipline. My first blatant encounter with this issue occurred during the week of September 14th while I was attending a vigil. The patient was actively dying and requested that his spouse turn on the television. Initially she refused, she feared that it would agitate him and prevent him from resting. Since the patient was diagnosed with cancer rather than dementia, I felt that he was aware of what he was asking for and knew what he wanted. I directed by questions towards his spouse, because I did not want her to feel like I was trying to override her rules. I asked her if he normally watches
As we reviewed the self awareness module this past week it was very interesting to see how the self assessments provided the class information about their own personal human behaviors. I was aware of most of the information provided but there were some tendencies I was surprised to find fitted my character. It was good to be reminded of the things I had forgotten about myself. Learning about my individuality and how I interact and respond to others based on my traits, personality and behavior has been an awakening experience. It is also great to know that I can work on areas that need improvement to become a more balance person to better assist my subordinates, teams and organizations.
As discussed above, scholars’ attitudes towards self-determination correlate with their understanding about the link between self-determination and democracy. Intrinsically linked with the idea of democracy, self-determination was to correct the arbitrariness and injustices of dynastic rule. In theory, self-determination could be said to refer to the practice by which individuals freely express their political will by choosing their own government and, at this stage, a reference to nationalism appears by no means necessary. The problem arises when the principle of self-determination is put into practice (xxx, xxx).
However, having highlighted ‘education’ as the push in learning, it is important to understand what is central to the changing conception of Lifelong Learning. Lifelong Learning is:
Self-discipline can be defined as doing things to improve oneself. It is the ability to look past present interruptions and instant gratifications and focus on future goals and what it takes to accomplish them. According Quent (2005) self-discipline is doing things to improve yourself, not because you were told to but because you want to reach your goals. DeVore (1990) defines self-discipline as having perseverance towards your goals; it is the will power not to give up because of failure, disappointments, and setbacks and or peoples options but to draw motivation from these experiences and follow through with the goals no matter how difficult they may be to reach. As stated by Newstex (2011) self-discipline is acting the way you think instead of what you feel at that present moment. Most of the time acting the way you think involves sacrif...
I realised that self-awareness is important in achieving self-improvement. The more an individual understands themselves, the better he or she is at adapting life changes that is according to their needs. The more self-aware we are, it improves the level of confidence we have on oneselves. This can be achieved through greater exposure, thus widens one’s experiences and will be more likely be more accepting of others. Self-awareness will also benefit us to be more accurate in accessing
Who am I? Wrestling with identity— our history, our culture, our language— is central to being human, and there’s no better way to come to grips with questions of identity than through the crossing of borders. The transcendence of borders reveals the fluid nature of identity, it challenges absurd notions of rigid nationalities, and highlights our common humanity. It is no coincidence, then, that my experience as an immigrant has shaped my academic journey and pushed me to pursue graduate studies.
There are numerous lessons that I have learned from life, they were lessons that I learned from good and bad experiences in life. Different experiences from school and out of school that has made me the way I am today. There is a long list of experiences that in reality did not teach me much.
Lifelong learning is important because knowledge is the primary source of value in the world today and ability to expand our mind and thinking out of box is the key to attain success. For example to be successful in your career/field you need to be up-to-date with the information and knowledge available in your field and this needs a lifelong learning.
