This paper is about the Ancient Persian rug. The Persian rug or also called carpet is rumored to have been invented in the late 5th century BCE. I wrote this paper because my family is Persian and rugs are all over my house , so I wanted to find more out about them. The Persian Rug can tell a lot about the ancient Persians for example, it could be used to some individuals were wealthy, or if they were involved in the empire's Government or military. I believe that the Persians were very artistic with everything and anything. For example how they made a simple rug and turned it into a complex piece of art.

And it is rumored to be that in Cyrus the Great's tomb is filled with Persian rugs because Cyrus loved the Persians Artistic values and abilities.

My artifact can be made in numerous ways and with lots of different material. For example a way to thread the knots is the Turkish Spread Knot. Carpenters do this by taking yarn and then wrapping it twice around two parallel threads and then the ends are drawn out between these the two threads. Another way is the Sinneh Knot or also called the Persian knot, what you do to make a Sinneh knot is you take the wool thread then you form a single wrap around the warp thread. One end will come out over one of the threads and the other will go over the next thread.

Iranian Rugs are named either by the town or village where they were made. In some parts of Iran the men weave the rug and in others the women weave, for example in Tabriz the men weave the rug and in Isfahan the women weave the rugs. And many people weave their own rugs in their homes. The skilled crafters learn the patterns that are on Persian Rugs are learned at a very young
