Rather than people thinking that paranormal activity is some made up thing to freak people out could it actually be true that these different experiences with paranormal activity are a real thing? Paranormal activity is commonly brought up, paranormal activity can be a real thing from the various amounts of events that take place today and the ones that took place in the past. Paranormal activity really can happen because there are reasons why these events take place in that time or location. Paranormal activity can really happen because it can be proven from different experiences in the past. There are a lot of paranormal activity that has happened in the past. For example, “a study shows that last year 55% of americans do not believe in this paranormal activity.” (Radford) Every person that has tried to experience it that’s in that 55% has not felt some special presence. It maybe true that this 55% of americans do not believe in paranormal activity and feels now that is has to be scientifically proven. However, There are various amounts of investigations that have took place before and there has been research on these cases which proves different spirits and other things that relate back to what’s happening in these different activities. So that proves that different people had to feel that different kind of presence and now truly believe in paranormal activity. The investigations that took place in the past had to do with demonic spirits and other kinds of spirits that were investigated by some of the best paranormal investigators there has ever been. (Radford) This proves that people’s opinion on feeling that presence is not always true because you have to be in the right place at the right time to feel that different presence. “The strange thing about the paranormal is that no matter how often [a person proves] it, it remains unproven” (Chopra). Given personal experience and evidence by professionals that have dedicated their lives to find answers regarding the paranormal and the afterlife. There will always be skeptics so long as there are humans with their own thoughts and opinions. Despite what skeptics say,ghosts exist; there are several eyewitness accounts, religious traditions, and traditional cultural stories that support the paranormal.

In William Shakespeare's Hamlet, the ghost of Hamlet’s father is intended to be seen as a real ghost. Around 1600, when the play Hamlet was written, many people believed in mystical creatures like witches, monsters, and most importantly: ghosts. With so many people believing in these characters, it makes sense that Shakespeare portrays the ghost of Hamlet’s father as a real figure. Many examples support this, such as when the guards in Act I scene i see the ghost, which proves it’s not just in Hamlet’s imagination. But some people can not see the ghost, such as Hamlet’s mother in Act III scene iiiii. Hamlet sees the ghost but she can not. This could be used as evidence to say the ghost is not real though. Shakespeare shows us though this information, the high complications oh having ghosts in a story.
An astonishing estimate of three out of four Americans believe in the paranormal. That’s approximately two hundred and thirty four billion out of three hundred and twelve billion Americans. The rising paranormal interest negatively affects a community. The economic influence of the paranormal can destroy a town and its reputation. In addition, the belief in the paranormal can leave a person mentally disturbed and cause learned helplessness. This, which affects the people, can hurt a community if a person affected by either is put into a position of power. Also, as seen in the late Victorian era, belief in the supernatural can cause people to turn against one another in large numbers and in turn disrupt their community.
Paranormal activity better known as parapsychology is a non-fictional idea. Parapsychology is the scientific study of interactions between living organisms and their external environment that seem to transcend the known physical laws of nature. (Teresi, 2000) The Society of Psychical Research was established in London in 1882 (Teresi, 2000). Major parapsychological studies had not begun appearing in mainstream scientific journals until the sixties and early seventies (Teresi, 2000).“Furthermore, groups such as the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP) which publishes the Skeptical Inquirer and the James Randi Educational Foundation (JREF) have been formed to disseminate credible information on the paranormal. Credibility should be less of a problem in the future” (Teresi, 2000).
With out the claims could be thought of as speculation and could be considered less reliable. Evidence can be produced from a many different research methods.

The Haunting of Hill House is a gothic horror novel written by Shirley Jackson. Supernatural occurrences take place within the house revolving around Eleanor. Eleanor is a thirty-two-year-old woman who never once has felt the sense of inclusion. Eleanor seems to never recall the feeling of delight in her adult years due to the fact that she was a caretaker for her now deceased Mother; who took away most of her freedom by being incredibly restrictive. Dr. Montague, a doctor that specializes in analysis of the supernatural rents Hill House, a supposedly haunted house. During the renting period, Dr. Montague begins an experiment inviting individuals who have had involvement in abnormal events
The Nelly Butler hauntings is referred to as the first recorded ghost story in American history (LiBrizzi 5), and possibly the most exciting hauntings to date as there are still many unsolved mysteries. The apparition appeared on more than 30 separate occasions to over 100 witnesses in Sullivan, Maine, just over fifteen years after the American Revolution (5-6). Although the Nelly Butler apparition is one of the most convincing ghosts of all time, it was subject to suspicions of fraud. These claims turn out to be groundless as the evidence reveals the ghost to be genuine.

Ghosts, as with any other misunderstood group or people, have been preyed upon by others without understanding. The lack of knowledge about ghosts and haunting activity has led people astray as to what they really are. What Hollywood and television portrays is very inaccurate and cannot be relied upon as truthful. They show these spirits of the dead as being evil in nature, filled with malice and harmful intent. But that this is not the case. The field of paranormal activity is amazing. It has caught the imagination of people from every walk of life. It has always interested me and has influenced me to pick this as the topic for my research. Through this research I wish to uncover the truth about the existence of ghosts. I also wish to correct the wrong notions that people have about ghosts and enlighten non-believers.

For many years, people have debated whether or not spirits are real. Some people get scared at the fact that there might be something unknown lurking in their house in the middle of the night making their footsteps known to everyone in it. Maybe that person feels watched upon or feel some kind of presence in their home, or even sees shadows moving their way through rooms. Different people around the world have their own opinions based on religion and experiences when talking about angels, demons, and the spirits that have life after death. New technology is getting closer to detecting these energies happening in the world today. The history of haunting dates back many years, and more people want to get involved because of the new technology.
Whether we choose to believe in the paranormal or not, we all have to realize that. There are many strange things that happen to all of us that are unexplainable. The history of paranormal existence has been around since the beginning of time. The paranormal is not what most people believe it is, “ghosts”.
