Some people may disagree with me, as far as I’m concerned, Palo Duro Canyon is the best place to visit in the Panhandle. The anticipation of the trip, the excitement of the view, and the exuberant breathtaking experience of the view is priceless. First, preparing a trip to Palo Duro Canyon is exciting, as for the restless night, the packing of snacks to eat during, the many stops to pump gas and potty breaks are anticipations of what is ahead further on the trip. It is more than just boring sand and cacti, and even a well known park. It is a home to an abundance of amazing organisms, and hopefully more to come.
The King Ranch The King Ranch, 825,000 acres right here in the great state of Texas! The King Ranch started as a small cow camp in 1853, no one knew how big it would soon become in later years. Richard King started the small camp with 15,500 acres, the ranch is now 825,000 acres full of some of the finest cattle and horses in the world. Each year, more than 35,000 people go to Kingsville, Texas to visit the ranch.

Everyone’s experience is not all the same similarly to the Grand Canyon situation that is mentioned by Percy. The individual needs to be taken into consideration. Like with me, I went to many tourists spots, such as the Valley of Ten Peaks, that are talked among many people that and have been influenced by the media, but when I got their I was left speechless by the sight of the of the Peaks. This experience is a counter point Percy’s idea, that prejudges of situations can skew the perspective of people. Percy states “[a tourist] Does not one see the same sight from the Bright Angel Lodge that Cardenas saw” (Percy 464). This quote explains how people cannot see the true beauty of a sight with these expectations that block it for us. However, Moran sided with the “sublime” aspect of Romantic landscape in which he uses the properties of form and color to evocatively paint a landscape meant to push the limit of formal expression. Moran doesn’t use just these techniques of the “sublime” to make the painting overwhelming, but also combined it with the sheer size of the canvas. He utilizes his space very well to make his viewers feel like he did when he found the canyon. He involves an aesthetic attack on our senses as viewers. Moran uses all of these elements to make the viewers feel like they are actually at the canyon. He used other tactics like the expansive sunlit landscape of the valley below, the tiny people that are dwarfed by the enormity of the landscape around them, and the enormous shadowing of the plane in the foreground which is symbolic of the fleetingness of a storm passing overhead. There is a tree that looks to have had barely made it through a powerful storm. All of these elements are meant to communicate just how small humans are in the wake of the destructive elements and splendor of nature. Various amounts of people have been contemplating this topic and have been asking the question, "Why should we establish this canyon as a national park?" A few reasons are that there is unique wildlife that people may not see everyday, it is very educational, and the tourism will result in an economic boost. The Providence Canyon is located in southwest Georgia and was formed around the 1930s after its dense forest was cut down for farmers to plant their crops. When this canyon was first formed, multiple families would gather their lunches and have a picnic at the spots that overlooked the landscape of the new Providence Canyon. After a while, this land form came to be known as 'Little Grand Canyon' by the current residents of Georgia.

Canyonlands National Park, immense amounts of wilderness and rock, is located at the heart of the Colorado Plateau (Canyonlands National Park-Geology). Millions of years have formed specific features to the rock and surrounding wilderness that make it so special. Throughout the park, you will find that the sedimentary rock has formed many features such as hundreds of colorful canyons, mesas, buttes, fins, arches, and spires. The Green and Colorado rivers have played a major role in the formation of many of these features. These rivers cut through the park forming two massive canyons. This further splits the park into three distinct zones. “Island in the Sky” sits to the north while “The Maze” sits off to the west and “The Needles” to the east (Canyonlands National Park Information Guide). “Island in the Sky” serves as Canyonlands’ observation tower; it allows tourists to see overwhelming vistas of the rest of the land. “The Maze,” as hinted at by the name has been described as a “30 square mile puzzle in sandstone” (NPS: Nature & Science» Geology Resources Division). This section of the park often ranks as one of the most remote and inaccessible areas of the United States. Lastly, “The Needles” is known for its diversity in rock features. Throughout this land, features such as sculptured rock spires, arches, canyons, grabens, and potholes can be seen. The varying names hint at the diversity of the land as a whole. As the two men hiked, they came upon many rugged trails and hills that were difficult to overcome, however they did it together and kept moving on. The view from the trail was beautiful with many places to stop and admire the view, but they couldn’t seem to get above the canopy of the trees to truly take in the whole view. The man that strove to see the beautiful scenery from an unobstructed viewpoint was trying in every way to get above what was around him to see the true beauty of the mountains.
The story shows how beautiful and peaceful the scenery is at the beginning, but then man enters and corrupts the perfect scenery. This long and extensive portion of the story that shows the beauty in nature eventually foreshadows the destruction of the canyon when man steps foot into the perfect canyon. The imagery is setting up for the conflict between man and nature. The prospector even digging up the dirt in the search for gold is causing a disturbance in the peacefulness of the canyon. “It [the canyon] was as starlight into atmosphere, shot through and warmed by sunshine, and flower-drenched with sweetness.” Reading that can create a feeling that warms the reader’s heart and creates an image of purity and perfection in the canyon. Quietness describes the canyon before man enters it, and everything was at peace. Then as soon as man had entered the beauty of the canyon, it caused an immediate disturbance when the prospector had entered. “The clash of steel-shod soles against the rocks began to be heard, and the man’s voice grew louder.” The canyon and all its perfection is now tainted and no longer quiet and
Along the way there were many species of wildlife. I saw numerous eye-catching reptiles, most of them were lizards that were multicolored with blues, yellows, reds, and oranges. At one point, I even saw a jet black snake with yellow speckles scattered throughout. Eventually, the path came out of the trees and led us to vast openness with nothing but saguaros and enormous mountains. As soon as I saw the opportunity, I pulled out my phone and started to take multiple pictures. However, when came back to reality and managed to pull my eyes away from my phone screen, that was when I actually took in nature’s beauty. When I looked through the gaping valley, it felt as if the world had halted to a stop and all my worries vanished. That was when I realized that it is honestly better to take mental pictures rather than taking physical
I have not had many meaningful moments with nature, even though I have many encounters with it. But the encounter that is the most prevalent in my mind is my vacation at Willow Lake, Minnesota. Here I had encounters with nature on the water, out bike riding, and watching a storm come in the distance.
