Paleontology is the study of fossils from previous life forms that existed prior to us. Paleontologists unearth and study fossils of extinct species. They research prehistoric life forms and the evolution of plant and animal life. Also determines organisms' evolution and interactions with each other and their environments. The study of fossils has evolved, and now have started using new techniques drawn from a wide range of sciences, including biochemistry, mathematics, and engineering. Using all these techniques has enabled paleontologists to discover much of the evolutionary history of life, almost all the way back to when Earth became capable of supporting life, about 3,800 million years ago.

To be a paleontologist you must have gone
A college that is in state and is one of the top ten ranked schools for paleontology is Virginia Tech. They do a lot of field work because it is proved to be extremely helpful. Another university would also be Yale but it would be out of state and it is a lot harder to get into to but it is also one of the top ten schools for paleontology. An aspiring paleontologist should have extensive knowledge of biology and geology. Getting a double major in college for these subjects is best when getting a job. Some work in museums. And a few are employed by government geological surveys, where they make geological maps or investigate geological issues. Then there are the ones that work in the field. Different jobs have their advantages and their disadvantages. Most well known jobs are known for the good things about them; their advantages. But there are some jobs that are known for having more bad qualities than good. A paleontologist in my opinion is about equal when it comes to its advantages and disadvantages of this job.

One advantage of the job is that the title is very flexible, there are different types of paleontologists so if you decide you don’t want one exact job you can always switch then you would also gain more knowledge overall. But the disadvantage of that is that you have to go back and study the different things you would need for the new job title, which would take more time.
