Only one way to spell racism
Introduction
A. Capture reader’s interest- Racism is the belief in which ethnic groups account for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others. This belief has been a part of the human race ever since people are born, racism is slowly fading, but people cannot that say all do not express it. There are still some who believe one’s ethnicity and appearance change everything in that particular person.
B. Build case through logic- In Harper Lee’s novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, the town’s people of Maycomb misjudge African-Americans. They treat them like trash, and through some people’s eyes, African-Americans are just filthy beings.

A. Point- Tom Robinson is perceived as a humble, hardworking, respectable nigger who is unjustly convicted of rapping mayella ewell, daughter of bob ewell.
1. Evidence-“How could this be so, [Scout] wondered, as [Scout] read Mr. Underwood's editorial. Senseless killing—Tom had been given due process of law to the day of his death; he had been tried openly and convicted by twelve good men and true; my father had fought for him all the way. Then Mr. Underwood's meaning became clear: Atticus had used every tool available to free men to save Tom Robinson, but in the secret courts of men's hearts Atticus had no case. Tom was a dead man the minute Mayella Ewell opened her mouth and screamed.” (Lee,241)
Explain- Tom Robinson was brought in front of a white men jury for trial. Although Atticus gives them all the ostensible/apperent facts that Tom Robinson is innocent, the clear racism in the thoughts of the jury sentences him to incarceration.
Point-Atticus tells Tom Robinson that they still might have a decent fortuitous/chance but Tom Robinson contemplates that he will only be adjudicated/judged by the color of his membrane/skin once more. He doesn’t want to take a chance but instead he takes it into his own hands and tries to escape from oubliette/jail/prison. Typical of a nigger to cut and run. Typical of a nigger's mentality to have no plan, no thought for the future, just run blind first chance he saw. Just shows you, that Robinson boy was legally married, they say he kept himself clean, went to church and all that, but when it comes down to the line the veneer's mighty thin. 2. Explain- aforementioned/this denotes/articulates how fanaticism/racism/bigotry perturbs/affects Tom Robinson’s actions by causing him to take his life. Tom Robinson knew that he was done because there was no way that a group of white people would take a white girls word over a niggers. This forced him to evaluate his life and what the rest of his life going to look like that caused him to take the action of trying to escape prison.
