Othello is a Shakespearean play that portrays jealousy and how it can destroy lives. In William Shakespeare's Othello, Jealousy is described as someone who is feeling or showing envy of someone else. Jealousy is also decribes as the most disastrous emotion. There are many instances throughout the play that show jealousy between the characters. In fact the thrive of jealousy is what made lago start planning a scheme that leads to the death of innocent people including Othello, Desdemona, Emilia and Roderigo.
In the play Othello, Iago is a manipulative liar.He is manipulative in the fact that he can make you believe anything he says. He is jealous of the fact Othello give Cassio a higher ranking position than him. He is so blinded by his jealousy that he just begins to lie.He makes Othello believe that Desdemona is having an affair with Cassio. “Lie with her? lie on her? We say “lie on her” when they belie her! Lie with her”(4.1.3)He makes it so believable that he puts Othello in a situation that he has to believe him. This one lie leads to many. …show more content…

Rodrigo loved Desdemona. The only thing he wants to do was to be with her for eternity. “But that I love the gentle Desdemona, unhoused: unconfined, undomesticated. I would not my unhoused free condition Put into circumscription and confine the sea's worth”(1.2 p25-28). You would think his love for her would lead him to a happier life but it never did. That's because he couldn't have her. Rodrigo began to be jealous of the fact Desdemona picked Othello to be her one and only. So with stupidity he asked Lago for help. Little did he know that Iago had his own scheme to make Desdemona look bad. After asking iago for help he is striped of his money and pride. Lago promises to help but didn't help him at all. He dies just because he was jealous of Othello and Desdemona and gets mischieved by Iago's
