“You don’t become what you want, you become what you believe”. These inspirational words came from no other than Oprah Winfrey. Even though Oprah has had rough times, she still continued to make differences and become the successful woman she is today. Oprah Winfrey has made a positive impact by donating millions to charity, is a great role model for self success, and she uses her power to help others. To begin, Oprah Winfrey has spent a well good amount of money to donating to charity and organizations. In fact, she has spent just about 40 million dollars just by donating. Oprah has also created many organizations of her own, one being her Angel Network. According to Source 1, “Oprah’s Angel Network has built over 55 schools in 12 countries”. This network raises money to help build schools all over the world. By this foundation, Children are able to get an education. “Oprah’s Angel Network provided more than $1 million worth of school supplies, including school uniforms and shoes” (Source 1). Although she has has a tough childhood from being pregnant as a teen, as well as losing her baby soon after he was born, Oprah did not let that stop her from being a well-known icon that changes the world as an independent woman. Source 2 states, “After a troubled adolescence… she moved to Nashville to live with her father…she entered Tennessee State University in 1971 and began working in radio and broadcast”. By this, Oprah did not want to let her past troubles get in the way of her education. Soon after, “Winfrey launched The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1986… the show grossed $125 million by the end of its first year” (Source 2). That’s a lot of money! Oprah grew to be extremely successful and inspirational by using her battle scars as wisdom to inspire others to do what you believe and follow your dreams.
