The movie catfish is based online dating gone wrong, and it really gives it a bad name. Not only that, you can also see that the idea of online dating has transformed dramatically in a short period of time. Online dating has taken many turns in a sense of trustworthiness and now there are many people wandering if it is okay to continue to date online. Now the media (movies like catfish) has many effects on relationships through online dating, it make other hesitant about trying online relationships. Is what you see online see or meet online is really love or infatuation? What is appealing about online dating, and why has it become so popular? Lastly are there any pros to look forward to when it comes to online dating.
The movie Catfish basically gives average people a look behind the scenes of online dating average man by the name of the Nev. The movie was such a big hit they turned the movie into a series. Nev seen that they were many people out there who were in similar circumstances and wanted to find out if they have really found their true love. Personally I have watched the series and most of the online dating/relationships were a failure, due to the lack of honesty of the people who are hiding behind the computer screen. Personally I feel that shows like Catfish has made it harder to lie in online dating, because no one wants to be caught being the perpetrator on the other side of that computer screen.

Most young people use social networking, and most people of older descent uses dating websites like eHarmony where you have to pay to meet that perfect match. Nev, Ernie, and Shauntel were all victims of online dating and as you can see most result came out positive and other times it came out negative. Ernie has was one who seen his cup both half full and half empty. The show Catfish shows the many people get lied to through online dating and gives a really bad name. Statistics show that people on online dating site lie about their age, height, and weight to make there self-look more appealing to others. Online dating can be used for good or for evil but it all depends on who’s sitting behind the computer screen.
