A Normal Unfair Life

Conflicts, sexism and some depression. Back on the 1950’s the role for women was very limited and by only doing feminine work, such as nurses, housewife, babysitters, etc. A great example is on the books The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath (1963), Girl Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen (1994), the films Girl interrupted by James Mangold (1999) , One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey (1975) the painting Girl Interrupted At Her Music by Johannes Vermeer (1661) and finally the Wikipedia article for Psychosis (last updated 2015). On all these works show how back in the old times women were facing with some rules set by the society which they could have not done much about it. Some women wanted to be more than just a mother, but society wouldn't let them, they also face with some restrictions on their roles, and how society is trying to control us to leave behind what we want to do and make us do things we might don’t like.
On the autobiographical novel “The Bell Jar” (1963) by Sylvia Plath claims that women had restricted roles back in the 1950’s. Also, a man standing next to the painting with a shadow that cover the whole wall is reading the music notes the woman had written herself.The woman is expressing herself through the music she is creating. The man standing right next to her is reading the music notes with a serious face and looks like is judging them. The woman is looking away from the man on the dark walls and looking right to the viewer. The woman is trying to ignore the dark side within her and look away to not remind herself about it. Also, the man, since is on the dark side of the painting could mean that he is restricting to the woman for what she can
