with the worldly resources being diminished day by day the humans should understand the value of what they have. Alas it is not so especially in the wealthy western world where almost half of the worlds resources is used and the other half by the rest of the world. Even in such , so to say, wealthy society according to statistics there are about 10 million homeless in USA in the late 1980s. Today it is even higher, reasons being non affordable housing, lack of unskilled jobs as technology improves, cheap housing giving way to high rises as the value of the property increases. This information is from the essay by Lars Eighner (b. 1948) in his article “On Dumpster Diving”. The word Dumpster Diving is a glorified name for Scavenging. What has this world come to where more than 10 million people live their life by going through these Dumpster for their livelihood and yet get along with no one caring for them.
