Odysseus is the man who knows no fear when it comes to getting home to his wife and son back in Ithaca. Not only does he win the Trojan war, but the King of Ithica literally has to fight his way home from the war as well. He makes mistakes, learns valuable lessons, and undoubtedly grows as person. Odysseus is motivated to return home by his devotion to his family and kingdom, and his experiences and trials teach him characteristics and life lessons in a way perhaps nothing else ever could.

Odysseus was a leader who fought in the battle of Troy. He had to leave his family and friends, and voyage for 10 years with many great trials in his way. Even though this was hard for Odysseus, he fought his way through it, and made it back to his family. Odysseus used his intelligence and bravery, to come home to his family.
There are many qualities of a hero. Odysseus exhibits many of these qualities. One quality of a hero is that they have courage. Odysseus exhibits courage many times in the book. Another quality is being brave, Odysseus is very brave throughout the book, surviving all the hardships he and his men have been through. Odysseus has all the qualities a hero should have and he should be considered as one.
In conclusion, Odysseus’ intelligence, loyalty, and strength are all key aspects which make Odysseus an epic hero. Besides having those characteristics, he has passed impossible tasks and could be compared to many American superheroes such as Batman. Both have relatively the same characteristics: strength, loyalty, intelligence, courage, and pride, but what makes them an epic hero is not entirely what they have been through. It is actually their ability to portray what their civilization finds most heroic in a person that makes them an epic hero.
