Recommended: Oceania government system 1984

In this thesis, I will argue that Oceania is a perfect society. Oceania is a perfect society because every single aspect of daily life is controlled by the government. What time people are going to get up in the morning, what time people go to lunch, what is going to be displayed on the telescreen, etc, it is all controlled. The Party checks everything put in the media to keep the public ignorant. They do this by sending the people that work in the Ministry of Truth what to adjust in the media. Everything is perfectly planned and if something were to go wrong, or if the Party were to suspect something is wrong, it wouldn’t be a burden. In Oceania, people only can trust what the Party says. They can only trust the Party because there is nothing …show more content…

The Party uses children by telling them to constantly watch their parents and if the parents do something wrong, to rat them out. Not only that, the idea of sex for pleasure is prohibited unless someone is a Prole. People are only supposed to use sex to aid the Party. The Party makes people go through a ‘Two-minute Hate” and also “Hate Week.” These events help fill the people with hate for the enemies and for Goldstein and love for the Party. The Party also manipulates the people by making them believe that they receive more than what they actually get. For example: when the news said the chocolate ration increased when it actually decreased. This also shows how the Party makes everything seem right and just. Oceania to many, is a society that is not perfect due to how much they control and manipulate the people. The people are used as puppets by the Party. Not to mention the Party’s ultimate goal is to control everyone in the world. The idea of world domination seems impossible but the Party makes it seem doable. The Party has already controlled the minds of the people of Oceania and have made it nearly impossible for the government to fall. It is a place where people are not allowed to feel any emotion. The citizens of Oceania were convinced that Big Brother was always watching, the Thought Police could at any moment in time catch you for thinking something unlawful, or knowing there was nothing was illegal, but if caught it would end in death or twenty-five years in forced labor camp. (9) The Oceania society was not allowed to have thoughts or even opinions knowing their government has the capability of punishing them.
