What is the American Dream? Perhaps someone who achieves true happiness and wealth through hard work and integrity. The American Dream is an amazing achievement but their are some difficult obstacles, preventing the average person from proceeding in their American Dream. The Great Gatsby, Serving in Florida, Ellis Island, these examples are gonna prove it is difficult for a simple man or even a famous character had problems achieving their American Dream. Today compared to those texts achieving the American Dream is like getting the jackpot in a slot machine you will never know if or when it will happen but you might as well give it a try.

Although they received their rights, they went through some tough obstacles to obtain those rights. People did everything to prevent MLK Jr from achieving his American Dream, the people protested, sent threatening phone calls, set his home on fire and got stabbed by someone. “I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality... It shows there is an endless war of racism and no sign of peace believing in truth and unconditional love will show the pathway to peace.
