Hello, everyone. I am Claudia Kim and the first year of the nursing student. Let me begin with very simple questions about the topic, obesity. Do you know what the prevalence of obesity in the Australia is and how many people die every single day because of weight-related diseases? Today, I am going to talk about one of the major global issues, obesity. Most people believe the obesity is not significant problem. However, being overweight or obese is not about how you look and it means that you have a high risk of developing many health and society problems.

Bob is an obese man so you can think about what are some problems make him fat regarding his lifestyle.

What do you think bob’s problems? Yes, he is consuming more energy than he needs and additional energy is stored in his body as fat.
The obesity epidemic has started with modern lifestyle and actually his lifestyle is similar with most adult workers around the world. Furthermore, the video said this lifestyle can make people to develop health problems such as heart disease and high blood pressure.

For example, UTS students who live in the city can easily get cheap and fresh food at Broadway shopping centre or market city. However, good quality food is more expensive in rural and remote areas due to transport costs so people in there are hard to maintain a healthy diet. For people in rural and remote Australia, higher prices and limited availability of healthy food are barriers to healthy eating. Therefore, there is an increasing rate of adult overweight or obesity by remoteness.

According to AIHW, people who live in rural and remote areas are 15 percent more likely overweight or obese than city residents. It means there are more vulnerable factors to obesity in remote areas than major cities. Let’s think about what makes remoteness to be overweight or obese.
