I chose to wright about Beth because she is 13 years old, she is obese and, she does not have good diet. Obesity in early age has many health consequences such as cardiovascular, type 2diabetes, hypertension. Most girls start to grow rapidly when they reach teen age, and start eating unhealthy food. Moreover, as I learned and explore on chapter 15 (nutrition from infancy through adolescence) what was interesting about this chapter was that teenage girls begin a rapid growth between the age of 10 and 13 because girls usually begin menstruation during this growth spurt, and they grow very little beyond 2 years after menstruation. So, the better way to loose weight is eating a healthy breakfast. Moreover, Beth buys 2 slices of pizza and 16 ounce soda for lunch, which is high in calorie. However, I recommend that Beth need to drink milk instead of soda to consume enough calcium to allow for a maximal mineralization of bone otherwise inadequate calcium intake during the teenage years develops osteoporosis also reduce the pizza in 1 or change it with healthy food should have better result. Second, after school, she eats macaroni cheese, hot dogs and frozen pizzas while she watches TV, and she is snacking a lot. I recommend Beth to eat fewer calories snacks such cereal, banana, apple and other nutrient foods. Because Beth has picky behavior, and she does not like vegetable, her parents need to include vegetable to her meals. Including variety of food on the meal is a healthy diet, and it prevents obesity and chronic diseases. Fourth, she does not exercise after school and after her family comes to home she usually watch TV rather than getting recommended 60minute exercise per day, so that her families need to plan her exercise time.
