Background

The Oberoi Group, founded by Mohan Singh Oberoi in 1934, is a hotel company headquartered in Delhi, India. Oberoi Hotels and Resorts is a chain of five star luxury hotels that operates in six countries. The hotels are internationally acclaimed and well known for their excellence in service and unparalleled luxury. Oberoi Hotels are very dedicated to their service and that is clearly shown in their mission statement:
"We are committed to meeting and exceeding the expectations of our guests through our unremitting dedication to every aspect of service."

Geographic Scope

The Oberoi Group owns and operates hotels in six countries - India, Indonesia, Dubai, Mauritius, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. In 1965 the first hotel was built - The Oberoi Intercontinental - which is now known as The Oberoi, New Delhi. Now, there are 12 hotels in India alone, along with two in Indonesia, one in Mauritius, three in Egypt, one in Saudi Arabia, and finally, one in Dubai. Along with various first-rate facilities, The Oberoi Hotels operate lavish spas at sixteen of their locations.

In addition to luxury hotels, The Oberoi Group also operates a luxury cruise service on the Nile (Egypt) and Kerala Backwaters (India). Aboard the Oberoi Motor Vessel Vrinda, guests are able to go on either a two or three night voyage to discover Kerala's rich heritage and witness its picturesque backwaters. The Oberoi Zahra, Luxury Nile Cruiser sails on a 7-day journey allowing guests to immerse themselves in thousands of years of Egyptian culture. ...their excellent service - the majority of reviews that I have read online also praise the Oberoi Hotels based on, but certainly not limited to, their service.

After researching and learning more about this company, I would definitely consider working for the Oberoi Hotels after graduating. The idea of working in exciting countries is very appealing to me and some of the Oberoi Hotels are located in marvelously exotic locations such as Bali and Mauritius. Also, based on my interview with Mr. Balachandran, the Oberoi Group is likely to expand, so I am excited to see which other countries these hotels will expand to. And lastly, there is a lot of room for growth and promotion as the Oberoi Hotels tend to hire from within before searching for new candidates, which means there could be good chances of achieving higher level positions in the hotels.
