On July, 1994 Mexico broke loose on a crisis after the assassination of the Presidential Candidate of the Institutional Revolutionary Party, Luis Donaldo Colosio, in Tijuana. The Organization of the American States had to take action because of the riots and political confrontations in Mexico. The Institutional Revolutionary Party ruled the country of Mexico for a really long time now. They were expected to win the election on that same year until tragedy stroke. The assassination of the presidential candidate was the breaking point of the political problems that Mexico faced. Aside from the problems that are reflected in the assassination on the presidential candidate, there are many groups that are threatening the current government because of their opposition to NAFTA. Mexico not only suffered a political crisis, but also a social one. The guerrillas turned against the government because they feel threatened by the way the government has handled their affairs with the indigenous people. The delegation of St. Kitts and Nevis believes that this is a major problem that should be addressed immediately. In order to address this conflict we must take into consideration the many possible solutions presented to us. The delegation of St. Kitts and Nevis suggest that the OAS oversee elections in order to make sure no fraud is presented, also it should prevent confrontations between members of opposing political parties and finally there should be international intervention in order to mediate and oversee the conflict so a consensus can be reached between members of both parties.

In this case it would be the right of personal security and the freedom of movement. Mexico is rioting because indigenous people have been deprived from their human rights and this has brought on territorial dispute. The indigenous people are very afraid. The delegation of St. Kitts and Nevis believes that a specific territory should be assigned as an indigenous reservoir in order for them to live in peace in their own environment. It is undeniable that immediate action needs to be taken, therefore the delegation of St. Kitts and Nevis urges the other delegates of the OAS to support Mexico in all of their issues and endeavors, thus help ensure the security of all the Mexican citizens as well as the indigenous peoples of Mexico.
This book by Otis A. Singletary deals with different aspects of the Mexican war. It is a compelling description and concise history of the first successful offensive war in United States military history. The work examines two countries that were unprepared for war. The political intrigues and quarrels in appointing the military commanders, as well as the military operations of the war, are presented and analyzed in detail. The author also analyzes the role that the Mexican War played in bringing on the U.S. Civil War.
Mexican Lives is a rare piece of literature that accounts for the human struggle of an underdeveloped nation, which is kept impoverished in order to create wealth for that of another nation, the United States. The reader is shown that the act of globalization and inclusion in the world’s economies, more directly the United States, is not always beneficial to all parties involved. The data and interviews, which Hellman has put forth for her readers, contain some aspect of negativity that has impacted their lives by their nation’s choice to intertwine their economy with that of the United States. Therefore it can only be concluded that the entering into world markets, that of Mexico into the United States, does not always bring on positive outcomes. Thus, one sees that Mexico has become this wasteland of economic excrement; as a result it has become inherently reliant on the United States.
The United States has no more important foreign relation ship than that of which it enjoys with Mexico, and vice versa. These two countries share interwoven societies and economies. Although there have been disagreements and turbulence between the two countries, which partnership is without these? The Strength of each country’s democracy is fundamental to the other’s. This relationship that the two countries share directly affects that lives of millions of Mexican and United States citizens everyday. Recently these two countries have become even more unified than ever before. Tackling issues such as Border Control, Countering Narcotics, Dealing with multiple Law enforcement agencies, Human Rights laws, trade and development, etc. There are many issues that they are mutually interested in and must deal with. Yet, there are some vast differences in which these two countries are run. There are also many similarities, which we must take into account. Both Democratic Governments have similar structures, containing a legislative, judicial, and executive branch. Yet, these structures are very different internally, containing specific duties that the other country’s branch may not have.

In the years leading up to the First World War, there were two major powers that competed for political influence in Latin America, those powers being the United States and Mexican governments. The U.S. intervened more directly in Nicaragua on two separate accounts in 1911 and 1912. The objective was to ensure rule of government that would be ideologically similar and friendly in terms of foreign affairs with the United States1.This in turn meaning that the U.S. political and commercial interests would on the agenda and a priority for Nicaragua2. Along side that the Nicaraguan government would then serve as an example, being under the watchful protection of the United States, of a stable form of government in Central and Latin America3. During this time, the officials that were in President Taft’s administration saw the United States as intervening in Nicaragua as a way to verify good government, but this caused a backlash that would be seen by a great deal of Nicaraguans as an overall encroachment on their sovereignty as nation that is seeking economic, and political gains4.

This essay will study the Central Intelligence Agency’s intervention in Guatemala, and how they assisted Colonel Carlos Castillo Armas in the coup d’état against Jacobo Arbenz. It will describe the reasons of the intervention, the United States’ interest in Guatemala, and how it affected Guatemalans. Such events help explain much about the role that the United States has in their own migration. The paper argues that the United States’ political interest in Guatemala played a fundamental role in the migration of Guatemalans to its borders. As a result of this intervention, Guatemala suffered one of its worse political periods in their history. Guatemala experienced a period of political instability that led the country into social chaos, where many Guatemalans opted to migrate to the United States.
In In the summer of 1968, Mexico was experiencing the beginning of a new student movement. The students sought liberal reform from the political system in Mexico. These students were determined to reveal the realities of poverty and misery and corruption in their country. (Guttmann) They were involved in different movements that would lead up to one event that would change the lives of everyone, “The Tlatelolco Massacre of 1968”. A day that ended the lives and shattered the dreams of many people. This event was the confirmation that the government could not be trusted and their lives would be determined by the actions they would take. Most importantly, the Mexican government lots the war of ideas. Though the Mexican government maintained a virtual monopoly of the press, Marcos and the Zapatistsas managed to diffuse their ideas and goals across the country. Though many did not support their violent tactics, the Zapatistas brought attention to the “plight of those at the losing end of Mexico’s economic globalization, particularly the indigenous groups who were losing both their livehood and their hopes for self-determination” (155). Marcos’ articulate and incisive letters put the government on the “moral defense” (168).
When we hear discussions or read articles about drug wars, killings, and illegal immigration into the United States, many of us immediately think of Mexico. As a nation, Mexico is a much greater country than these commonly referred to issues. Mexico is a country with a broad history, deep family culture, and an economy fueled by oil and tourism. The United States Department of State (USDS) offers a broad range of information on countries outside the US, including Mexico. The history of political instability in Mexico and its need for revolution is very complex and dates back to the colonization of Mexico by the Spaniards in the 1500s.
