Typically, a student needs an associate degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a Bachelor’s degree. Practice is overseen by a physician or surgeon who specializes in Nuclear Medicine Technology to ensure the student is learning appropriately. Once the student finishes the program they need a license to practice their profession. Certification is not a requirement for a license, however, many employers do require certification regardless. As an ultrasound technician/sonographer I will have the ability to see dangerous defects within the human anatomy and begin a lifelong profession with many benefits. The Ultrasound was first invented in the early 1900’s and was surprisingly not used to produce photos of a fetus. In 1917 Paul Langen a marine life scientist used a form of ultrasound equipment in his attempt to detect submarines. After many failed attempts at using high frequency sound waves Dr. Ian Donald and his team in Glasgow, Scotland invented the first ultrasound machine in 1957. Dr. Donald even tested his machine on patients within a year of completing the invention, by the late 1950’s ultrasounds became routine in Glasgow hospitals.
A surgical technologist is an adventurous, inspiring, and active job to have, working under the bright lights, wearing masks, strong suction, sharp, shiny tools and most importantly seeing opened life on the operating table with many adventures to come in the operating room.
In order to become an ultrasound technician you need to advance your schooling beyond high school. It really just depends on what you are willing to do. You can go to college anywhere from 1 to 4 years and beyond. 1-2 years would be your associates. Which is the bare minimum. 3-4 years would be your bachelors. Often times people with higher degree levels will also get paid a higher salary than those who are just working with the bare minimum. The more after graduate schooling you take the higher the rate of pay will be. In high school to get yourself prepared for what is going to be taught in college most students would recommend you take as many years of science that they offer. In the medical field, there are many ethical dilemmas that a person could face. One of the major dilemmas in the medical field comes from being a doctor. While attending to a patient/ client the doctor may not know the best treatment or course of action to take because of the many options there could be. The values and beliefs of a doctor can’t interfere with the treatment of a patient/client. Their job is to be honest, benevolent, respectful, and to maintain confidentiality of the patient/client.
The team includes a radiation oncologist, radiation physicist, dosimetrist, radiation therapist, and a radiation therapy nurse. I chose a career as a medical assistant because of the rewards I knew I would experience on a daily basis. By observing the code of ethics every member ensures that they are held to a higher standard when it comes to quality patient care and at the same time help eliminate bad actors in the profession. Money and fame do not motivate my goals. Engineering in all forms is a field of innovation and invention. Aspirations of any great engineer should be to introduce to the world a new idea, product, or service that will make people happier and the environment safer. Success in these challenges is a reward greater than any dollar amount or public recognition. Engineers bring societies to new levels of civilization through their advancements in technology and discovery. The challenge to provide people with ever-increasing standards while at the same time feeding the population with ideas of what could be attracts my imagination, intelligence, and curiosity far more than any other career option. The engineering field embraces these challenges.
America uses a lot of energy to supply electricity to millions of homes and businesses and needs an energy source that will supply an abundant amount of power but is also efficient. Nuclear energy is a reliable and efficient energy source that America can use. Fossil fuels and other resources used in the United States are running out or are very expensive. Nuclear power will provide a cost effective and long term power supply. America should use nuclear energy because of its many benefits which are environmental benefits, economic benefits, safety, power production, and reliability..
