Nothing good lasts forever. The poem by Robert Frost " Nothing Gold Can Stay" is about how nothing good will always stay good. The Outsiders is about a group of boys that come from a poor side of town and are rejected by society. These two pieces of writing may not seem to have things in common but they are actually very similar with the way that their themes relate."The theme presented in "Nothing Gold Can Stay" is represented in the Outsiders by S.E Hinton through the characters. One way that this theme from the poem relates to the outsiders is because of Johnny and Dally's deaths. Johnny's death was meaningful he died helping others. "Then leaf subsides to leaf." This quote from the poem relates to Johnny's death because the poem is portraying something slowly eroding away. Johnny's death was slow but he only died after he realized that he was at his peak, saving kids and being know as a hero because of it. Dally's death was ruthless. Dallas was killed because he pulled out an unloaded gun. He wanted to die because he lost everything that he loved including Johnny. "So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day." This part of the poem is portraying that something mourningful happened which is making something grief. Dallas was in disbelief that Johnny had died and he then had no one and nothing to live for. …show more content…

While Pony’s parents were alive he was happy and didn’t have a care in the world. “Nature’s first green is gold,” This part of the poem relates to Pony’s parents because When Pony’s parents were alive he was set for life in the factor that he didn’t need his brothers to act like his parents and they could still be in school. This poem also relates to the part where Pony’s parents die. “Nothing gold can stay” This sentence in the poem relates to Pony because when his parents died he now has to adjust to his brothers being his parents and supporting him throughout
