The Civil War was the most ruthless and devastating war in American history. After being pushed too far by the Northerner’s anti-slavery antics, the South decided to attempt to peacefully succeed from the Union. However, the North almost automatically disagreed with this attempt, and what was supposed to be a peaceful situation turned out to be the war with the most casualties that has ever been known to happen, the number being over 600,000 lives lost. While it originally seemed that this war would be an easy victory for the North, it’s predicted six months turned into a bloody four years. Nevertheless, the North came out victorious, due to the conditions and the advanced technology that made the North superior to the South. To go into detail, when comparing the factories, the Union had the immense sum of 110,000 while the Confederacy only had the limited number of 18,000. To clarify, because of the monumental number of resources that the North had over the South, they were able to outlast them in the war, which contributed to the Union having the victory over the confederacy. As most of the weapons that the soldiers used on the battlefield were made in factories, it can be shown that a much larger sum of weapons were being produced for the Union rather the Confederacy, which also was a factor in the North winning over the South. Not only did the large amount of resources that the North had over the south, but specifically the water – related technology aided the Union immensely during the war. In the midst of the war, many new types of weapons were created to benefit both sides; one major weapon included was the Iron clad ship, specifically it’s durability and the method of transportation it was.
