Norma Jean Mortenson, formally known as Marilyn Monroe, she had a voice, charm, and nice bombshell looks. In 1946, her voice and personality made her rise to fame. Many people including myself, to this day are still are die-hard fans when it comes to her movies, music, and beauty. Not that many people knew about what life style she lived and what hardships that Norma went through. All of her accomplishments lead up to a very sorrowful ending, and it all started with a girl who just wanted to be noticed by others. Marilyn, born in Los Angeles on June 1st, 1926, had a very rough childhood. Her mother was diagnosed with schizophrenia, which is a mental condition that hospitalized her mother when Marilyn was just a little girl and she didn’t even know as to where her father was. A couple of months before her death, Marilyn had been fired from Fox Films because of being a “no-show” to some of the rehearsals of a movie that was never completed. But Fox rehired her again in August. She was also seeing Joe DiMaggio again and they had decided to wed again on August 8th, 1962. The main cause of the death is unknown, but many think that she had overdosed on Nembutal sleeping pills either on accident or as a possible suicide. DiMaggio had arranged for flowers to be sent every week to her grave for about 20 years after her death (Fox, 1946 she had signed her first studio contract with 20th Century 1). Marilyn once said, “With fame, you know, you can read about yourself, somebody else’s ideas about you, but what’s important is how you feel about yourself – for survival and living day to day with what comes up” (Marilyn Monroe Quotes 1). Through her ups and downs, she lived everyday following her dreams, even if everything did not always go as planned.
