Being identified as a nonprofit, doesn’t necessarily mean it will be a charitable organization. Though the term has been applied to most nonprofit organizations, the fact is most nonprofits is structured using the economic model. The economic model is based on the traditional model of management designed to deal with the complexity of managing an organization (Bradshaw & Hayday, 2007, p. 4). This model acquires funding from multiple sources such as; individuals, government grants, corporations, and foundations. Though an nonprofit organizations may be identified by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as tax-exempt, it may use the same economic model and framework as a for-profit organization. According to Brainard & Siplon, (2004), the nonprofit economic model often mimics that of the private sector by using organized professionals to help determine the goals and vision of the organization (p. 439). The nonprofit sector in America is a reflection some of the foundational values that brought our nation into existence. Fundamentals, such as the idea that people can govern themselves and the belief that people should have the opportunity to make a difference by joining a like-minded group, have made America and its nonprofit sector what it is today. The American "civil society" is one that has been produced through generations of experiments with government policy, nonprofit organizations, private partnerships, and individuals who have asserted ideas and values. The future of the nonprofit sector will continue to be experimental in many ways. However, the increase of professional studies in nonprofit management and the greater expectation of its role in society is causing executives to look to more scientific methods of management.
Non-Profit organizations are a major mold in society in general, and they continue to help advance many of the social causes of our time. From the description, we know that employee and volunteer morale is quite low, and that is the fault of the senior management. In an organization, it is important that each individual knows that they are contributing to something larger than themselves. In many cases, employees seek to work somewhere where they can earn a living, but also where they can become a member of a team, and feel a sense of purpose. When they are not treated with respect or given the ability to make their own decisions, they lose engagement and become stagnant in their work. Volunteers look for much of the same thing; they are, after

PetSmart and Petco are very similar with their retail pet product stores. Petco was founded first in 1965 in San Diego, California and PetSmart came along twenty years later in 1986 in Arizona. More than one-half of the Pet Stores industry’s revenue comes from these two specialty supply retailers: PetSmart and Petco. The other portion of the industry consists of family-owned stores, small franchises, and small chains of pet stores. The pet store industry continues to grow due to the discretionary income family’s produce and owners’ tendencies to treat their pets like family. PetSmart aims to provide a one-stop shopping experience.
Throughout this course my paradigms of what a nonprofit organization have been challenged as we have considered the major aspects and leadership challenges of these organizations. Having worked with for profit and nonprofit organizations in the past I was quite confident that I had a clear understanding of the distinctions between the two. I had worked in organizations that regularly used volunteers to accomplish their mission and felt that the management of these processes were simplistic. Despite these misconceptions, I found that I was able to learn a tremendous amount through our reading, peer interactions, group projects and equally important, my volunteer service as part of this course.
When deciding on which non-profit organization to give resources to, a person must think of a number of questions that need to be answered in which to choose a certain one. The most pertinent of these questions is the one that asks which cause the person cares about the most. The problem, for a majority of the population, is that they just do not know what they truly care about. That is why the United Way is the best option for donations. The United way does not focus on one specific, but instead works for a variety of different causes focused on fixing some of the different problems inside of the United States. The United Way is an organization, which envisions a world where all individuals and families achieve their human potential through education, income stability and healthy lives. It plans to do this by improving lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good. The United Way needs money and time in order to achieve some of these goals. This essay will explain why the United Way is the best organization to give ones resources to.

Furthermore, analyze the situation at hand and distinguish what member of PETA I was interacting with, debate on a plan of action, collect, arrange, and compose the date for the legal department. Additionally, choose the appropriate departments to communicate the information with so they could judge, justify, and support my course of action.
Nonprofit Organizations The purpose of this research is to define nonprofit organizations, describe opportunities that are present in nonprofits, outline advantages and disadvantages of working in the nonprofit sector, and explain how you can determine if this is an area for you to consider as a career. WHAT IS THE NONPROFIT SECTOR? "Nonprofit" is a term that the I.R.S. uses to define tax-exempt organizations whose money or "profit" must be used solely to further their charitable or educational mission, rather than distribute profits to owners or shareholders as in the for-profit sector. The term is also used to describe organizations which are not a branch of -- are independent of -- the government and the corporate sector. This term refers to one of the most important uniqueness of a nonprofit organization: it is independent of both the public or government sector and the private or corporate sector.
Higher prices than local competitors, such Petco and Pet Supermarket are a considerable threat to PetSmart. Most are anywhere between 10 to 25 percent cheaper due to cheaper quality foods. Government regulations from everything from dealing with employees to the veterinary hospitals also with the handling of smaller animals to their transportation to the store, everything is closely monitored by the government (Wiki, 2012). A major threat is animal food recalls which continue to be an issue at one point there were major recalls from China, and since PetSmart mostly their food from there a lot of the food had to be taken off the shelves due to animals dying from the food. There have been a lot of issues from PETA due to the treatment of animals
